Catch 22 - 'Keasbey nights' - By
This is a great debut album from ska punkers Catch 22. They carry the classic ska sound, and this album will be loved by anyone who loves ska music as much as I do.

"Dear Sergio" is a brilliant opening track, as are almost all of these tracks on "Keasbey Nights". There's one track on the whole album which I consider to be 'bad', this is just my personal opinion, but I don't like "Giving Up Giving In". This song sounds very messy compared to all the other tracks, which are quite simply brilliant. The guitar's are noisy and unorganised, sounding like it's being played by a 5 year old, and the vocals are too fast, unclear and just rubbish really.

Despite the poor quality of "Giving Up Giving In", the rest of the album is pure ska punk class. Catch 22 deserve to be more widely recognised, easily out-classing bands like Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish.

As for lyrics, Catch 22 write intelligent songs. The lyrics all seem meaningful unlike some ska bands who tend to just write songs about random things (i.e. drunkeness). However at the same time they manage to portray this classic ska punk attitude (a daft one), this is evident on most of the songs. They mix these 2 elements of song writing and come up with a very good combination of sensible and silly.

After hearing this I'll definetely be buying the rest of the Catch 22 collection.

If you are a ska fan, go buy this album now, it's definetely a classic even though Catch 22 are a relatively unknown band. You won't regret it, it's fun and bouncy just as every ska album should be.
