SEGA has announced a plan to release four new games for PS2,Game Cube, XboX and Game Boy Advance during the next year.
SEGA said on the 13th of May this year, that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise would come to the largest audience ever. All four games follow the new Anime style of The Sonic series.
The highly anticipated 'Sonic Heroes' is the first of the four to be released, with it's sensational new team platform style. This is due to be released on PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox.
SEGA will also release the SA DX Director's cut later this year, exclusively for Gamecube, and Sonic returns to Gameboy Advance in both Sonic Pinball Party and Sonic Battle.
SEGA bigwig Shinobu Toyoda said:
'Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most popular Video Game characters of all time. Bringing him to on all New-Gen platforms provides SEGA with potential for the franchise to exceed the popularity it had in it's heyday of 2D style graphics.'
Sonic Heroes shows a definitive new style of play action- The first of it's kind and highly appraised by critics.
It allows the player to control a team of 3 as they make their way through the game. The player must use the abilities of their characters to complete the levels. This means it takes much more than just a happy trigger finger to complete the game and survive.
SA DX director's cut is the ultimate edition of the Dreamcast blockbuster: SA1. With more than 50 bonus missions, extra cinematic footage, and enhanced graphics.
Sonic Pinball Party returns to the old style of pinball with themed boards, and Sonic Battle allows you to set some of the best known Sonic characters head to head- Imagine: Amy V Sonic......Now that's a fight I'd love to see!

Sonic fans in the U.K are on the edge of their seats this month, as they await the final release date for Sonic X.
The first official airing of the series is estimated to be around January 2004, whereas American fans have already had many of the episodes aired. Devout Sonic fans are looking overseas for something to quench their thirst for the series: At least 250 copies of the first Sonic X DVD have been ordered for the U.K since September the 9th from American companies, and those whose orders have been refused, have turned to the Japanese versions for satisfaction.
'It's unbelievable how hard it is on us Brits,' a fan stated, when his order was turned down. 'We have to wait months longer before we can see what America sees, and when you talk to fans from across the globe, its really difficult to avoid plot spoilers.'
This has been the case with many of the new Sonic games too. The Sonic Community is becoming very much an internet based group, and this makes it much easier to 'overhear' plot spoilers.
U.K fans expect a set date before the end of December..
