The first CD Godsmack released was recorded and mixed for next to nothing due to lack of real funding. The first single Whatever came under scrutiny for "contreversial lyrics". Hahahahaha...yeah, right. The next single was Keep Away, and then Voodoo. Voodoo was condemned for having "contreversial lyrics" as well. Supposedly, Wal-Mart pulled this CD from the shelves due to a pentagram featured in the CD booklet. Sully Erna, the lead singer, was accused of practicing witchcraft, but contrary to the public's belief, Sully is an active member in teh Wiccan religion. A fine introduction into the world of hard rock.

The second CD Godsmack released was recorded with much better funding due to the huge success of the first record despite all of the great setbacks they faced along the way. The first single was Awake. The next single was, and currently still is, Greed. Both videos have plenty of advertising with their videos on MTV and MTV2.
