No dia 14 de Outubro o jornal americano ''The New York Post'' publicou uma matéria sobre o Megadeth em que Sue Tropio(uma especie de porta voz do Metallica) falou que Metallica e Megadeth podem fazer uma turnê juntos em um futuro nao muito distante.  ''Há uma grande amizade entre as bandas atualmente'' falou Tropio.

MEGADETH READY TO TAKE ON ‘THE WORLD'

October 14, 2001 -- Even as Dave Mustaine was testing the limits of metal, his own mettle was being tested. 
Back in the 1980s, Mustaine, a founding member of Metallica and the founder of his current band, Megadeth, was known for his drug- and alcohol-fueled fits of rage: At a party once, he broke a man's leg after the man punched Metallica bandmate Lars Ulrich. 

"I was a violent person when I was drunk," says Mustaine, who is now 40 and has been sober for five years. 

Those violent ways eventually got him fired from Metallica in 1983. 

He formed his new metal band, Megadeth, soon after, and is now touring with the group in support of a new record. Megadeth roars into Irving Plaza Tuesday and Wednesday. 

"I'm a little different these days," says Mustaine, who entered rehab in 1990 after being arrested for DUI. 

Of his decision to go straight, the Arizona resident says, "If there is a form of higher judgment, and you have decided to live your life like a dirtbag, then you, my friend, are screwed." 

On tour, Megadeth, which to date has sold more than 6.5 million records in the United States, is playing old material as well as songs from the new disc, "The World Needs a Hero." 

"We're a band of the people, by the people and for the people, and we want to play the music people want to hear," says Mustaine. 

"World" is the band's hardest, fastest record in years. Tracks like "Moto Psycho" feature Mustaine's classic venomous lyrics, blazing guitar riffs and thunderous drum fills courtesy of drum demon Jimmy DeGrasso. 

The album, which came out in May, debuted in Billboard's Top 20, peaking at No. 16 - respectable for a speed-metal band. 

Recently, there's even been some talk of Megadeth touring with Metallica. "Anything can happen - there's a lot of love between Metallica and Megadeth right now," says Metallica spokesperson Sue Tropio. 

Megadeth had moved away from its roots after "Countdown to Extinction" went double platinum in 1992. But 1999's "Risk" - the band's first, and last, attempt to go alternative - spurred "a spiritual housecleaning" for the group, says Mustaine. 

He and longtime bassist David Ellefson energized the unit by bringing in former Alice Cooper guitarist Al Pitrelli to reclaim the band's metal power. 

"With a name like Megadeth, you have to go full throttle," says Mustaine.
