At the age of 9, he took his first piano lesson. Then he played his brothers drums before starting to play the guitar his pre-teens.
When his mother died he moved to Calafornia where he lived with his brother. There he met a group of boys who shared the same interest in music and together they set up a band called Obsession. They did covers of Thin Lizzy and Black Sabbeth.
He then joined another band called Leather Charm where they made a song called "Hit the Lights" This song was later used in "Kill 'em All"
James now lives in Novata, California.
