Aaaagghhh, still feeling that Jamesons and green Coors Light from st. patty's. Anyway, so what the fuck, why can't we keep a drummer. Now Scott's bailing, what a dick. We a need a new drummer again. And a vocalist. And a bass player. Well, bass isn't that important, we have two kick ass guitar players, me and dave the painforest. Dave and I have been hanging out with a friend who plays drums in another band, in an atempt to steal him for our band. Didn't work, but he said he'd fill in, better than nothing I guess. Still, without a drummer, it's next to impossible to do anything. Damn it.

So, we've got a few shows coming up. They will be played sanz bass most likely, beings our bass player seems to have quit via default. We haven't heard ANYTHING from him in about 3 weeks, he hasn't been to practice or called or anything, so he's done. We can get by without him, since our sound is mostly dependant on the guitars anyway. It's just irritating that he couldn't have said something to the effect of "Hey guys, I'm not into this anymore, so I'm gonna quit.", not " ". Anyway so that's about all the news we have right now.
Been almost a year since this has been updated. Gotta show coming up, check it out on the Shows page. Or better yet, to keep up to date with us, just check out our MySpace page, since it's easier to update, at myspace.com/pavetherainforest. It's updated much more often than here.
So the news hasn't been updated in like 8 months so I thought I'd update incase anyone still checks it. Been using myspace.com a lot, well, more or less exclusively actually. THe address for our page on there is myspace.com/pavetherainforest. It's a lot easier to update with and damn near every fucking person on the internet uses it now.
Well as far as actual news goes, not a whole lot to report. Scott is playing drums now, and we have an as-yet-unofficial bass player now too. Rick from Harsh Illusion. I've decided I don't really want to do lead vocals anymore either, so we need a vocalist now too, and another guitar player would be nice too. I've got some great ideas for some harmonizing shit for some of the new songs that I can't really do without another guitarist. Sure I could try using an effects pedal, like a delay or something, but it would totally not be the same.
I've also been jammin' with another band for the last couple of weeks. Bear Witness who also practice at compound. Seems to be going all right, but they have quicker, more technical playing style and I'm struggling to keep up. We'll see how it goes, if it works out, awesome, if not well, it'll have been fun for the time anyhow.
Well that's all that seems notable, check back in another six months to a year for the next post.
Charlie
Some good news, some bad...
Good news - I bought a Peavey XXL head off of ebay. My first non-combo amp, although I still need a cab for it so if anybody's got a good used one that they want to be rid it of for not to much, get ahold of me ([email protected]). That's it for good news.
Bad news - We're letting John go. We haven't told him yet, only because we have been able to get a hold of him or heard from him in way too long. It wasn't an easy decision and I don't want to go into the details, but it's what needs to be done. In anycase we are now looking for a new drummer, just to put that out there. Interested individuals can contacts us at the same address I listed above.
Well that's it.
Charlie
Quick update. Scott and I and a few friends went to the GWAR show on Saturday and it really kicked ass. Got really drunk and soaked in fake blood. It was awesome, except for the Jack booted gestapo agents frisking us down every time we went from the bar back into the show, that was lame. Otherwise kick ass all the way.
P.S. Nothing new from the SUCKlahoma douchebag.
I've got an email here I thought you all might enjoy...

you dumb mutherfucker pave the rainforest is my bands name, from okla city.we've been around since 1995 you dumb fuck. you better change it or i'm coming up there to kick all three of your asses. you fuckin suck anyway, you should'nt even have a band. your fuckin drummer is he a joke or what, my 3 year old can play better than that.you better change your name you little fuck stick.
Now for a few points from me, Charlie Fucking Brown...
1. Pave The Rainforest is a rather unique name that we chose because it did not seem very likely anybody else would have it.
2. I don't know ANYONE (including myself) who has ever heard of a Pave The Rainforest before us.
3. Why the hostility asshole? Are we taking away money from you? Have you reached such a height of popular and financial success that we are somehow infringing on that? I would think that a simple google search would have turned up some mention of "your" band's name, but the only Pave The Rainforest mentions I could find we're for us.
4. What took you so long to say something? We've had this name for over 2 years now, plenty of time for you contact us on this matter.
Anyway, assuming this other Pave The Rainforest truly still exists or ever did for that matter, I'm not at all concerned about the issue, and will continue to not be until I see an album or even shirt in one of the local music stores that is not not OUR album or shirt or whatever.

So we didn't make it to the Pig Roast in Bemidji yesterday. We pulled into Crookston, Mn at around 2:30 in the afternoon and the van immediatly died. We got a jumpstart and took it to a close by shop. After looking it over they told our alternator was shot. Since we didn't have enough ($350 at least)to get a new alternator we had them charge the battery all the way up and we headed back to fargo. Almost made it too. The van died again about 5 miles out so we just called up a friend to come out and give us another jump and that was enough to get the beast back to the compound. Anyway, anybody who might have come out to see us, that sucks, but hopefully we can get on the show again next year.
Well the show on Friday kinda blew. We were set up and ready to go in about 10 min. then Scott realized his bass wasn't working (fuck active pick-ups by the way, they sound phenominal, but they are highly unreliable) so he had to search to find a bass to borrow. Anyway, with all that crap we only ended up getting to play three songs...that's right three songs $250, 200 miles to play THREE FUCKING SONGS!!!! The crowd sucked too. Most of the kids we're the Abercrombie & Fitch types who swung by HotTopic before coming to the show. They hung out outside smoking cigarettes and comparing who had the cooler halloween outfit that night. There were a few kids there that were actually there to see some bands and they were cool. But the little jailbait teenyboppers should just stay home and listen to their N*Stink and Hansan records from now on. In any case the show was rather unorganized and no room was left for unexpected problems (such as a sudden gear malfunction). Not to mention it was our first show in 10 months and this was not the way to get back into the game. In anycase, all the hype I've heard about the Bismarck/Mandan scene being so fucking awesome was shot right the fuck down. I'd be willing to give it another shot someday 'cause I know that first impressions are usually wrong, but the whole experience was a little disheartening. On a lighter note however, we did meet some cool people from some other bands and that's always a good thing.
Anyway, the next show we have scheduled right now is on October 7th in Bemidji, MN. It's the Great Northern Minnesota Pigroast which we played last year and had a blast so I'm hoping for another fun time this year. Plus this year it's at place that has a bar close by so we can drink without having to be clandestine about it.
Well that's about it. Gotta get my ass moving and start getting my shit moved to my new place. I'll be without internet service for a little while, but I'll put in a quick update when I'm back online. Later.
Charlie Fucking Brown
Posted another show took one off.
So we're finally gonna buy a van. We found a this old Ford Econoline for $600 that was like an old plumbers truck or something. Huge, way more room than we have gear for. Definitely a shaggin' wagon. Runs good and handles highway good, so for $600 we figure you can't really go wrong.
Anyway Scott and I along with a couple of other friends are gonna be renting a house, sort-of... It's actually the main floor and basement of a 2 story house that we can't smoke in. Someother dude rents the 2nd floor. If they had said it was no-smoking when we checked it out, fuck it, we'd a kept looking, but they didn't say anything till we went to sign the lease. That really sucked and we didn't have time to keep looking since we all gotta be out of our current places by Sept. 1st. Man everybody's putting the screws to us smokers. We know it's not good for us, blah blah blah, but shit give us someplace to kill ourselves that's at least warm in the winter. Ah well, I'm really annoyed by that but otherwise seems like a cool house, all big and shit. There's an extra room in the basement that we might try to turn into a Jam Room since everybody in the house is a "musician". Even the upstairs guy appears to play bass since we could see one in his window when we went to sign the lease. Ah shit, what else?
I personally am hoping to record a new demo by the end of the year. We've got a few new songs that I'd really like to get recorded that kick ass. I'm also pondering the idea of having some sorta contest for a kick ass Pave The Rainforest logo since none of us have any drawing abilities. Don't know what the prize(s) might be but maybe Free Pave Shit for Life(concerts, cd's, shirts, soiled Depends(R), whatever), but I just don't know yet.
Well I can't think of anything else right now so check back some other time.
Later
Charlie
Not much to say, posted some upcoming shows. They are all out of town but if you can make it, awesome.
Charlie
So John finally came around, but we'll have to see how long it lasts. We have gotten a few new songs done, except for vocals. Since I'm now the lead vocalist again, we need new lyrics for some of the old songs that we're still keeping and we need to fit lyrics somehow into the new ones we've written. We should be ready to start playing some shows again soon, but we want to record a new demo first. Start watching for us come late July. There's a bunch more to write about, but I'm going to bed so it'll have to wait.
Charlie
Well it's been a month since the last update. John has come out twice since, and given excuses for every other day. I'm going to go up to his house after I'm done with this post and see what's up, then I'm gonna call a different drummer we got on the line at the moment because I'm not gonna put up with this bullshit anymore. He's not even officially back in the band and he's just as bad as he was just before he quit, so fuck it. In other news, I went down to Texas with the green fog crew 'round middle march and had a blast. We were extras in a zombie movie called Risen. Here's some pictures

Brian on right and Derrik in front from Green Fog Vigilante and J.P. from Zombie Efx Inc. the lead Fx guy.
The trip kicked ass. We ate weird southern food, drank beer out of really big cans, got pulled over 4 times, and broke down twice. Good week full of stories. Well that's all I got.
Charlie
*sigh* All right, well when I last talked to jon we talked about jammin last week, but then he said no, we were gonna jam today. Okay maybe, that's the kind of thing that happens when you make plans while drunk so okay. Well, it's 7:15pm and I'm still at home so you can see that that didn't happen. Anyways it comes down to this, John lost his chance at automatically getting the spot back, now he's gonna have to audition like everybody else (I'd still be perfectly happy to do the side project that me and him were always talking about though). I got an email from a guy the other day (actually first person to contact us instead of vice versa) who is interested in jamming with us, so hopefully we'll hear back from him soon. Sounds like he's interested in doing some heavier stuff than what he has been so that kicks ass. That other dude that tried out a few weeks ago has found a band more to his liking now so he's out of the running too.
Other news, going to see the Crue on monday. I'm not the hugest Motley Crue fan, but I like to think of it like seeing Kiss. If you get the chance you gotta go. They were the epitome of rock star excess which almost every musician in a rock or metal band dreams about. I say were though because now they are getting old and just trying to rekindle a flame from their glory days, but that's cool, who wouldn't, and they have been selling out arena's and shit, so they seem to be getting what they were after. After that, going on a little road trip and returning to my *ahem* 'loyal' peons the next weekend, ha ha.
Oh yeah, finally stopped in at Broadway Guitar to have a looksee and the drum guy knows me apparently. He was friends with my Uncle when they were kids. Also told me they are pretty easy to work with on lay-aways compared to marguerittes so I might soon be putting that Marshall Mod4 that I've had a hard on for forever on lay-away. Those two peavey combos I've been playing through have already seen the evenings of their lives and are really just reanimated zombie amps now.
We've got a couple of new songs in the works, and they are getting heavier and thrashier I think. My lead skills seem to improving everyday too. I chalk that up to some extent from jammin with my friend dave who kicks my ass on the gitbox and I struggle to keep up with him. Plus I've been woodshedding a lot more consistantly lately too. I still don't know the notes on my bottom two strings, but I now know 5 different scale shapes (7 if you include the extended shapes of the two main pentatonic scales). The only problem is I can't seem to make anything work, however some of it seems to be inbedding itself into my muscle memory cause my solo attempts are getting more coherent. I dunno, I'll may never be as good as I want, but I'm gonna keep trying till I die or loose my hand in a farm machine (which is unlikely since being around farm machines generally entails hard physical labor, which I'm allergic too).
One last thing, my ex-girlfriend's a worthless cunt and my roomate/former best friend is a piece of shit. I hope she gives him a VD.
Charlie
So, the first guy that tried out for our band doesn't seem to be down with the Pave. That's all right though. We auditioned another guy last night and he seems to have the right idea, but I'm not so sure. The reason I'm not so sure though is this... I talked to the Leprechaun tonight, and he wants to come back, and regardless of what I've said and all the dudes we've auditioned (and some of them were pretty damn good) it just don't feel right without John and so I'm gonna try to talk Scott into givin John one more shot. I hope he's down with that, cause I thought I'd never want him back, but I really do. He's my bro, and I love the guy like the genetic brother I never had. I'm tryin' not to get too excited about it though, so we will see how things progress. I'm not giving up on the new guy that tried out last night, but I'm kinda hoping John will work out again. Ah, but only the future knows what it has in store for us.
Charlie
Heh, things seem to be looking up. We audtioned this drummer last night, and he definitely fits the important criteria. Talented, adjustable schedule, looking for aggressive band. Dude's name is Nick, and he seems to have some serious talent going on. For all intents and purposes he is the new Pave The Rainforest drummer, but we'll give a few weeks maybe even a month or two to see how things pan out. I've got high hopes for this though, and I don't normally look on the bright side of life if you haven't noticed. It will take a little while for us all to get adjusted to each other, but once we become a solid cohesive unit again, expect to see us at a show near you very soon (or not, depending on where you live). Anyways, yeah, I'm stoked so keep checking back for more updates on how things are progressing. Later.
Charlie
John has now quit as well. His reasoning is rather flawed, but I think he's been looking for an excuse to quit for a while now anyway. Whatever, he'll be missed and we've had a lot of fun the last few years, but it's time to move on. That being said, PAVE THE RAINFOREST is begining auditions for a new drummer effective immediately. If you don't know what we sound like, you can go to http://www.myspace.com/pavetherainforest and give it a listen. The recording isn't the greatest, and our sound has intensified a bit since that recording was done over a year ago, but interested parties should get the jist of it. If you are interested, you can email us at [email protected] or call me, Charlie, at (218)233-4650 and be sure to leave a message if no answer. Well that's it, adios.
Charlie
Tommy quit. He's moving back home so now it's back down to three. Maybe we should just keep it that way, it would certainly make things less complicated, sort of, but I like the idea of being a four piece band. Not a five, not a three (although I'd settle for three as opposed to five). I've got a couple of people in mind to ask, if either of them consider it, either I'd be singing and playing rythm with a kick ass lead guitarist to fill out the group, or we'd have a kick ass new singer, who can play the geetar and sing at the same time, but he's pretty much a rythm player. We'll see how things go.
In reference to the last post, I've decided, I'm not a narcissist. It's just that being the nice guy that I am, when I finally put my foot down and say I'm not gonna put up with this bullshit, I'm made to feel like I'm being selfish and self-absorbed. Well that's not the case, the truth is a person can only put up with so much, and I finally drew a line. Most of you won't know what I'm talking about and needn't fret over it, I just had to clarify. Oh and on a similar, but unrelated note, I don't think the band is all about me, but I AM all about the band. There, now that should shut the nay-sayers up. Probably not, but it should.
Charlie
After a not so good New Year's Eve (in retrospect, I should have just gone to work that night) I've come to realize that I'm an asshole. I think I may suffer from a bit of narcissism. According to dictionary.com the definition of narcissim is as follows...
1. Excessive love or admiration of oneself. See Synonyms at conceit.
2. A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, lack of empathy, and unconscious deficits in self-esteem.
3. Erotic pleasure derived from contemplation or admiration of one's own body or self, especially as a fixation on or a regression to an infantile stage of development.
4. The attribute of the human psyche charactized by admiration of oneself but within normal limits.
The first two seem to describe me the best, although #3 seems to be rather far off. Some of you, i.e. those of you who don't know me very well, might not see it, but I'm sure a couple of people who read this will agree whole-heartedly. Well, I guess I'll try to be less narcissistic in the future, but it seems to be who I've become and I'll bet you can all agree, intentionally trying to change one's self is a rather tall order. Then again maybe I'm wrong completely and I just like to think that there is something wrong with me when for the most part there is not, although that sounds like a problem in and of itself. Whatever, just wanted to get that of my chest. Later.
Charlie
Where do I begin... well I talked to John today, and somebody told him about what I've been saying on here, and that's fine. If I was worried about him reading it or finding out about it I never would have posted it. If it's considered unprofessional, well, we're not exactly a professional band. It's a hobby more than anything at this point, but a hobby that I take seriously. I wouldn't complain if there wasn't anything to complain about, and no matter what I say, John is our drummer and I don't want it any other way. He's been my friend for quite a few years now and our drummer for less than half that time, but I like to think we've become better friends in the process. If he quits, he'll be replaced, but it won't be the same. Even if we found the best drummer on the planet, it wouldn't be the same without John. If we became hugely successfull, it wouldn't be the same without John. I don't know how likely we are to become successful, but I'd definitely want John to enjoy that success along with the rest of us. I personally have many many times thought about just giving it up, but what then? Go back to school and get a boring job to go along with a boring life? Sure I'd probably make more money, but what good is money if your not doing anything you truely love to do. I wish I could figure out a way to explain that to John. Anyway no matter what happens John is now and always will be THE Pave The Rainforest drummer. That will never change. I'll still bitch and complain, 'cause that's what I do, but John is a part of the heart of Pave (I think the left ventricle to be exact), not the just the drummer of Pave, not just one of the members of Pave, but an actual physical part of what Pave The Rainforest is. Without him, we're just a band with a name.
Charlie Fucking Brown
Hmmm... well we didn't record the demo, again. John needs to get his drums up to code so to speak. I think he only has one cymbal that isn't cracked and his drum heads are worn to shit. I know money doesn't grow on trees, but the last I checked neither do cymbals... or drum heads. It ain't cheap being a drummer, but ya gotta make some sacrifices if you wanna be one. Anyways, these posts are turning into long John bitchfests, so I'm gonna change the subject.
No definite shows on the horizon right now, but we might play a show in Gwinner in late January, and I'm trying to get something set up for Feb. 18th or 19th, pref. at a bar so my sister, who is coming home for a month or so in Feb. and turns 21 on the 16th can catch a show and drink at the same time. Plus then I won't have to buy her a present, just a few beers. Well that's about all I got right now. Later fools.
Charlie
8/20/66 - 12/8/04

Well maybe I'm just over-reacting, but John doesn't seem to want to do this band thing anymore. He's constantly coming up with excuses to miss practice, and we've had to cancel two shows in the last month and a half because of him. The first one was because he had to attend a funeral so that's no problem, but the second one was because he was sick. Now granted, he was pretty damn sick, but he's played shows sick (and injured) before and it's just not like him to puss out like that, I mean he's a tough mother fucker. I don't think I'd be all that concerned either except on top of all that, he's only been to practice ONCE since Oct 29th which was the day before the last show that we played. That last practice was the 19th and he swore up and down that he'd practice no matter what on Sun. 21st so when I went to get him he said he couldn't practice cause he hurt himself at work again. And it's like he gets pissed off anytime we try to get him to practice, when he said and I quote "we'll definitely practice on (insert day here) no matter what" and then on that day he says no and we call him on it. I mean, what the fuck, if it's a really good reason, then whatever, but there's only so many good reasons. I dunno, like I said in the beginning I may be overeacting and I do tend to be the kind of guy that if things don't go exactly the way I think they should go, then they are going to go exactly the worst way I think they can go. I hope we can get this all sorted out, but I just needed to vent. Later.
Charlie
Well first I'll give you the bad news. We have to back out of tonights show because John is really sick. I asked Punky if he'd fill in and he said he would but then I thought about it, and we just don't have enough time to work out the songs with him. If we'd had a few days maybe, but an hour or so just wouldn't cut it. To all 0 of you who were gonna come out to see us play, you still should come out because it'll still be a good show. We will be playing a show next Saturday at the VFW basement too so you don't have to wait long for your next dose of Pave.
On a lighter note (or heavier depending on how you think about it) the SLAYER show at the Quest club last week was awesome. It was only the second time I've ever seen SLAYER, but it was by far the best time, in fact I think it was the best show I've ever been too. No, scratch that, I KNOW it was the best show I've ever been too.
The Halloween Hell-Banger VI show was a good time. We were late though 'cause I was in the bathroom doing my make-up. Ha ha. No really I was, it was for my costume, but most of it sweated of by the time we were done (including the faux bullet hole on my forehead). One rather humorous moment (although not at the time) was when they fired up the fog machine right behind my amp without telling me about it first. I saw all this smoke coming from behind my amp and I thought I burned something up. All I could think was "shit I can't afford new gear right now, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!" but then John yelled at me that it was just a fog machine and then I felt stupid. Ah well, makes for a good story. The rest of the show was cool. 4Fodder has definitely got a different thing going on. I thought they kinda sound like a cross between Primus and Tool. I dug it. Obsidian was plagued with electrical problems their whole set, to much juice in that P.A. setup. They had a drummer for their last song too, that sounded cool. I took off after their set though. I was tired and needed to take a big 'ol shit. Anyways, that all I can think of for now. Later.
Charlie
The show on Friday kicked ass, good crowd, although John's toes were all fucked up on one of his feet because he dropped a pallet on it at work because he's a clumsy son-of-a-bitch, so he got all shit-faced before the show and ended up getting lost a few times during a couple of songs, but we soldiered on and had a good set over all (is it just me or is John always messed up in one way or another?). We had to cut three songs out though since the show got started so late.
Pedophilic Lust was a pretty cool band, they rocked pretty hard and I think it was their first show. It was also the first time I was able to give Strong Like Bear a good listen, and they got some good shit going on too. Green Fog kicked ass like usual even though Brian fucked his ankle up since apparently he too can be clumsy. And then there was Anal Blast. Those guys are the sickest mother fuckers around, at least that I've heard. Their music is truly inspirational and it was awesome getting to see them play and not only not having to pay, but getting paid. It was a great show all around and in my opinion definitely in the top 3 of my favorite shows that we've played.
Lastly I'd like to say thanks to all the people that had good things to say about our tunes. You guys are the reason I haven't given up on this music thing that we do. Keep supporting local music 'cause some of your favorite signed bands would've given up if not for the local support they got in the begining. Well that's all I got later.
Charlie Brown
Well it's been over a month since the last update and not much to report. We played a show at Billiards last night. Had to cut our set short by 2 songs though 'cause John's got pneumonia or some shit and didn't breath at all during the last 3 songs or so since he couldn't. Anyway, I thought we played kinda shitty, but after thinking about it, maybe it's because we hear the same songs everyday when we practice and so even the littlest mistakes seem glaring. Especially during a performance. The thing that really sucked though is that I had to go to work last night so I couldn't hang out and get trashed and check out the other bands. Anyway, we got a show out at Harwood next Saturday with Obsidian and Vindictus, if your 21+ stop out, the show's free, but the beer ain't.
Oh one other thing, we are also playing a show the day before Halloween. No it's not the $10(overpriced) devil's night out at paymakers, it's the $5(really good value) HALLOWEEN HELL-BANGER IV at the VFW Basement. It's a warmer more intimate venue than that cold corporate paymakers venue.
Well I'm outta here.
Charlie Brown
Wow, been updating the news quite a bit lately. Well the Billiard's show on Thursday was cool, we kicked so much ass the crowd didn't even realize it. We didn't get paid, but that's allright by me, 'cause all the profit went towards helping fund the Six Feet Under show on Sept. 9th. I hope people start buying those damn tickets, it'll suck if there is only 20 people there. Anyway's so back on track, yeah the billiard's show was good.
Saturday we had the Pig Roast show in Bemidji. It really kicked ass, we actually had more than 5 people watching us for once and of course what happens, charlie just about passes out from dehydration (note: drink more water and less beer before a show) and just can't recover after that. Our set started out real good and it didn't end as bad as many shows have, but we could've done better. But a bunch of people bands and fans alike said we did awesome and I guess some want to work with us some more. So that's cool, Tommy made a bunch of contacts with some 'Cities bands so we got that. On a side note, actions and activities of certain band members DO NOT reflect who we are as a band as a whole. As individuals we will all do stupid shit, but that doesn't mean that our individual actions are endorsed by the band as a whole, unless it involves blowing it in a girl's hair, especially if she's sleeping, we all endorse that whole-heartedly. Anyhow, we had a great time all around.
Well that's all we have time for today, fuck off and die.
Charlie
The Minot and Williston stops on the Boneyard tour were fun, but WHERE THE FUCK WAS EVERYBODY??!! As I understood it there was supposed to be six bands both nights and Minot would have had only four because of cancelations if they hadn't managed to scrounge up a band at the last minute. The Minot show wasn't too bad, there was a decent number of people and we had one hell of a party in our room after words. John passed out about an hour after we played and when he did it was just me and him in the room, and when he woke up about 4 hours later it was me, him and about 30 other people. It was great except for the fact that someone stole $200 out of John's wallet while he was passed out. Whoever that was is the shit that comes out of bacteria that eats the shit of other parasites that eat the shit of real animals. Other than that Minot was fun. The dudes from Dragfoot are real cool, and they covered Bloodline by Slayer...that made my day.
And then there was Williston. First I wanna say the people that did come out, especially the three dudes with black t-shirts one of 'em was a slipknot shirt, you are all awesome. Second I wanna say to the bands that did show up which was PTR, Noise Union and of course Khaos Stone, you guys are awesome too. Third I wanna say to the people that didn't show up, bands and music fans alike, YOU FUCKING SUCK. I'm never going back to Williston ever again 'cause that town is a waste of everybody's time. However the 'after party' which was pretty much just ptr, ks, and the sounds guys who are also from Dragfoot, was a good relaxing time. We had beer, we had herbal supplements, and we had FIRE!!! HA HA HA HA!! Fire will always make a good time better. FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Ahem, excuse me, got a little carried away.
Anyway, it was a fun weekend, we put on two hell of a shows, and we spent approximately 18 hours or so driving to and fro. In fact if you think about, with all the shows we are playing in course of 8 days, this really is Pave The Rainforest's first mini-tour. None of the shows are less then a 100 miles apart and all are in a short time span. Anyways, don't forget we're playing the Six Feet Under warm up show at Billiards on Broadway this Thursday with Green Fog Vigilante, Necktie Suicide and Messing With Texas at 7:00pm and after that the Great Northern Minnesota Pig Roast at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds in Bemidji, MN this Saturday with a shitload of other bands. Be there or be a stupid shit eating bastard. Lata.

Well, another month has passed since the last news update, not much has happened, although we were on That Dam Metal Show last night/this morning and they played a couple of our tunes and shit. It was pretty cool, but damn, the best radio station in the area sure does have a tiny ass studio.
We're finishing up a few new songs that you'll hear at next few shows, and we're gonna record another demo sometime soon, probably in October. The next one will have the same songs as the last one plus some new ones.
Anyways, you should all check out the next few shows if you can. We'll be in Minot next Friday the 20th Williston on Saturday the 21st then Billiards here in Fargo on the following Thursday the 26th and then Bemidji two days later for the Great Northern Minnesota Pig Roast on Saturday the 28th (go to Contacts and get ahold of Charlie if you need tickets). Come check out these shows if you can and go to Dates page to get more info. Well I'm outta here man.

Haven't updated the news section lately, not that anybody reads it anyway. Well, it's looking like we might be playing at the Great Northern Minnesota Pig Roast Festival on Aug. 28th, near Bemidji, MN. Sounds like it'll be a blast. I don't know much about it yet, but I hope it's outside. Once we confirm that we will be playing, we should have tickets available if anybody is interested in making the trip.
We've decided that we are going to record again at the end of September. We're thinking about recording an album's worth of material, but that means that we need to write at least 2 or 3 new songs by then, so we'll see how that goes, regardless though we are intent on recording then.
The 3rd of July party we were supposed to jam at got canceled. Apparently the dude came on some hard times and decided he didn't want to do it. I dunno, I'm more inclined to believe that he realized how many people might be showing up after I got two other bands to do it too and got cold feet. But whatever, my first attempt at setting up a show failed miserably, live and learn.
We've got a new song, at least musically it's done. Tommy still has to write his lyrics for it, since he refuses to sing anybody else's. I just wish he'd actually start working on the lyrics. The only time that I know of that he even works on ideas for it is when he shows up to practice. In all fairness though he has been showing up to practice more lately, but he also has tapes of the song that he could listen to at home and write lyrics there. I guess XBOX and PLAYSTATION are bit more urgent and important.
Well, I guess that's all the Pave The Rainforest news that's fit to print at this time.
Charlie
Updated the Pics page and Scott's page and Charlie's page.
Well the show last night was all right. There was barely any crowd but we played all right. There was technical difficulties before we started though. We had no juice to stage area until about 8:50pm, so we were all slightly worried that the show would NOT go on. Regardless I wasn't gonna leave until the bar closed electricity or not. Anyways so last night was Winter Goat's first and last show apparently (probably a good thing...ha ha). WWJD made my ears hurt again, but in a good way, and Harsh Illusion's finally got a singer, but I think it's the same singer they had way back, but I'm just not sure. Doesn't help that I was already a bit schnockered by the time I got there. Well, me thinks that is all there is to tell ya for now.
Charlie
Well here's the news post. The show last night was good. I was really irritated afterwords at our own performance, but I watched the tape and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Any way, it's about time another band member posted some news so here is Tommy's take on things...Charlie
I think the show last night was good but we all were....well...i can u say were were all shit faced good...but at least well all had fun an if any one thinkd diffrent you can see me next show an tell me diffrent but anyways it was a good show an anyone out there had fun....i hope....so ill see you at the next show...Tommy
Not a whole lot to report today. They played our demo on the Boneyard again, same song as last week though, but it's still cool that they played it.
Scott got hurt at work on saturday. He was digging for something in the cupboard and a frying pan fell off the counter onto his noggin in the process. Sent him to the emergency room and they put 6 or 7 metal staples in his dome. It sucks but at least it'll be a good story to tell later on. We took a picture of the wound too so we'll have it on the site when it gets developed.
Charlie still has to go in for Jury selection today. Hopefully he won't get picked to do this case. He has no time to do it, gotta show on saturday and need to practice up and finish the new song, which can't get done without him.
Anyway, that's all I got today, come to the show on Saturday at the VFW only $2. Later.
The show on Saturday was a lack-luster performance on our part. I dunno what went wrong exactly, but it just wasn't that good. But on the other hand it wasn't that bad either... and we passed out a bunch of demos. I recently reviewed all the video from our shows that we got recorded and our worst was definitely last year. We didn't play great but in comparison to the last show it would have taken quite an effort to top that performance. We owned the stage for the time that we were up there on april 10th. That show rocked. Anywho that's how i feel about that.
On a brighter note, they played one of the songs on our demo, "Soul Torcher", on 104.7fm's the Boneyard last night at around 8:15pm. It was pretty cool to hear our own shit on the radio. I of course would have picked a different song, but hey, I can't tell you a good story without bitchin' a little bit.
I guess that's all I can really think of for now.
Charlie
First lets discuss the show on Saturday. The day started out well, we all got to the compound at decent time so we could do rehearse a few songs, and drink a few beers. Then disaster struck. Barely 10 seconds into the first song, one of the joints on John's double pedal broke. We tried feverishly to fix it well enough to get through the show, but with no luck. So then we went to Schmidt's Music to buy a replacement but they had none, then we drove to Marguarite's but they were closed (why the hell they close at 5 on a Saturday which is the one day a week that the most bands would be doing live shows and might need an emergency part is beyond me). So we returned to the compound to try one or two more ideas to rig the pedal but to no avail. Well we just went to show and hoped that someone there would let us borrow their's. That someone was Josh from If I Die. Thanks man you're a life saver. Anyway so we got that covered and when on to play our best show yet. But half way into our third song, Prey For Your Death, the pedal disconnected from the kick drum so John had to kick the drum with his foot for the rest of that song, but he pulled it off all right. We also had a girlpit going which isn't as cool a real mosh pit, but girls hitting each other is always good.
On another note, Charlie has to serve JURY DUTY. What the Fuck? And what jury you might ask are they calling him up for? Well, I'm not gonna tell you but it definitely ain't a case of an old widowed lady being swindled out of her husbands pension fund. No siree, it's a great big deal more serious than that. I think Charlie should go shitfaced and unshowered and unshaven.
And one more thing, THE DEMO IS DONE!! We're getting some extra copies made should have it very very shortly, I'm hoping by tues. or weds. and we'll try to put up some mp3's if we can figure out how to do that. Otherwise come to the shows, maybe you can get one for your very own. We'll probably make a bunch of copies on tapes too, since none of us has a cd burner readily available.
Anywho, that's all the news that's fit to print. Later.
Today is Charlie's Birthday, he's 25. Happy Birthday Charlie.
Last night's show was decent. We need some more good songs though. Our set was way too short 'cause we've only been playing our newest songs. Our music seems to be going in good direction now and the old songs just don't fit in with that anymore. Just gotta keep working at it and shit. Enough about us though.
Omnipotent Beligerence was pretty awesome. Their style has definitely changed since the last time I saw them, but it was good. Her Seduction's first show was pretty good too I thought, and I really want that Marshall Mode 4 that Paul's got. Anyway I thought it was a bit of an improvement over Kludge(not to say Kludge didn't kick ass). Venus in Furs were pretty good too, if you like that sorta music, but they were to pop rockish for me. Too each their own... Anyways, I guess that's all I have to say today.
Well, our bass player quit and now Scott is gonna be takin' over bass duties. That's alright though, our stuff really only needs one guitar anyway. Hope the show tonight doesn't blow. We'll see.
One other thing, the demo's all done recording, just has to be edited so maybe have it ready by the 10th, but the 23rd for sure. Sounds decent so far, but could have been better if the two shit heads that wanted to re-record most of the songs had showed up the second day (and final for instrumental).
Just got back from the Minnesota Metal Fest. Awesome show, Green Fog tore it up. We almost missed 'em though. Went the wrong way down Hennepin, so when we finally got there we had about two or three minutes to spare. Great show all around too.
Finally gonna be starting the demo this week. I'm assuming we'll get the recording done this week, but I don't know what kind of time frame we're looking at for the editing. Since it's just a demo and our first one to boot, I don't think it would take long at all.
Well that's all I got for now. I thought I had more, but I'm tired.
Damn good show at Fox's Bar last night. Got fucked up, but didn't hardly fuck up. Added another link for Badimo. They were definitely good listenin' for when you're baked off your ass.
On another note, maybe it's just me, but the cops sure do seem to be interested in the compound lately. Scott got pulled over for speeding last night right in front of the place practically (although in all fairness, Scott is a SHITTY driver). They came out there about 2 weeks ago and we're harassing me and my friend Rick, and one of the other bands out there said they just barged their way in without asking about a month before that when they answered the door. Hmmmmm... maybe if they would focus on their jobs and snag people who are actually up to no good, oh but silly me, that would be hard. I dunno, it's just irritating.
Well the harwood show was good, I thought we sucked really bad, but we got it on tape and after I watched it, I realized that we didn't suck that bad, plus everybody else said we did good so... A billion chinese can't be wrong, right? Anyway, Green Fog Vigilante was good like usual, and Vindictus, well they are just simply a bunch of pure musicians. They can play, they don't make mistakes, they are pretty damn good. Well, I guess that's it.
Charlie
Got some new show dates, and some new songs, they are pretty good I think. Wanna say congratulations to GFV and WWJD for hooking up on the Minnesota Metal Fest, March 19th and 20th at 1st Avenue in Minneapolis. Everybody reading this should go, the PTR fools are going. Well that's all I got for today, later.
Charlie Brown
Well, since certain band members are annoyed that the site doesn't get updated or have enough pics (can't really do shit about the pics though, SINCE WE DON'T FUCKING HAVE ANY!!) here's an update. Not a lot going on, Charlie's really irritated about a lot of shit lately. Umm... yeah, so here's the update.
The HIT counter HIT 420 today.
Well the show on Thursday went well, at least as far as the performance goes. At least I thought it did. The crowd was thin, untill after we finished. Ah well, a show is a show.
We might have a new singer now, his name is Tommy. We'll see how it all sounds when he learns our songs, but I'm pretty optimistic. Besides, I can't sing for shit anyway so at least nobody will be able to blame the vocals on me, just the shitty guitar work.
Well, that's the news to me. Later
C.B.
Fuck it's cold.
Well we didn't have a bass player again last Saturday, but we managed without him anyway. I forgot most of the lyrics for the new song "GesPOTo" again, but it is a new song. The show seemed pretty shitty while we were up there, but we got it on tape. I watched it later that night and it actually wasn't too bad. Although I was pretty hammered when I watched it and haven't watched it since, so my judgement may have been a little skewed.
Anyway, I think that's the last show for this year. Right now the only other one we have lined up is in February, but we don't know the exact date yet. I don't mind, we're pretty damn new to playing shows and this'll be like a short break from it. Gonna try and get some more songs done, probably a cover or two as well.
We Decided that we're gonna shoot for March sometime to record some demos. That should give us enough time to work something out with someone who has the equipment to do it, and to polish up the songs we want to record. Well, I guess that's all the news I can think of, later assholes.
--Charlie B
The Harwood show wasn't a big crapfest after all. We didn't have a bass player though, but it wasn't like it was the first time anyway. We should have him back for the 13th, but I guess we'll see how that pans out.
Did something stupid, got in trouble with the landlord at the practice place. Patched it up and everything should be alright now, not gonna lose the place yet.
The Billiards on Broadway show went good. Had lot of technical difficulties, but those aside, it went rather well. I just hope the 29th is not a big crapfest.
Well I did a little updating with the site, added a hit counter and a guestbook, you should sign it and rate it a 10. Also added a few dates too.
The Halloween show sucked. John's ex-wifed showed which didn't help matters at all. Had some beers though and just pretended that it didn't suck. We'll have some pics up before too long though. Bad make-up and stupid costumes abounded on stage that night, as well as bad timing, bad mics, and no bass player.
The Fuck Cancer show at the elks lodge however was much better. We got going late though 'cause chris is big dumb ass. We plowed our way through the set with nary a mistake and the crowd response was better than any we've had yet so that's cool.
We're gonna be recording some demo's (our first ones!) soon, if we really bust our asses maybe even have them ready by our next show, although that's a long shot.
Well, I guess that's it for now. Later, Chuck B.
