Tsongas Arena MTV2 Headbangers Ball tour April 2nd

This was a night not to be forgotten, with Unearth, Drowning Pool, Hatebreed and Damage Plan on the bill you know just what I mean. Thanks to Llano, Unearth Tour Manager, and Adrenaline PR for hooking me up with Ken for a great interview after their amazing set.

Ok so it had been cold and rainy all week, but by the time I pulled up to the
Arena it didn't matter what the weather was like, it was all about the METAL!
The place was sold out and everyone was in a festive move with the beach scene
that was throughout the place. Even a mechanical bull was somehow in there,
but I'm not quite sure what that has to do with the beach. No matter,
the important part of the night was about to commence. Here comes Mike Hsu,
Harder Faster, to introduce the first band, UNEARTH!! Right off the bat,
Unearth hits your musical needs right in the face. A lot of talent in this
band. They did three new tunes from their upcoming first full length cd from
Metal Blade Records, The Oncoming Storm, due out June 29th. Let me just say
the new stuff from these guys will kick your ass!!! Ken has some interesting
little remarks on the back of his guitar, "Snack On Deez Nuts", I'll have the
shot of that up soon. Anyway Unearth is definitely ready for OZZFEST after
this tour. I spoke with Ken about that after the set, he is very excited about
Ozzfest and the MTV2 Headbangers Ball tour is just the beginning of a long road
ahead for UNEARTH. Onto Drowing Pool, I was interested in seeing these guys
with their new singer and to my surprise they came out with "Bodies", which
I thought was a little weird. but their set was really good and they belted
out tunes from their new cd, which had the fans up on their feet. Really a great
thing to see after losing Dave to have them back in full force and on the road.
Nothing short of greatness will come along for these guys. Onto another hometown
band, Hatebreed. Can I just say that I love these guys. Also another band on
Ozzfest too. Holy Crap, it doesn't get better than this. Hatebreed is an amazing
band and they belted out stuff from the latest cd, The Rise Of Brutality, with
evident metal anger. They did old tunes too, which of course is fine by me. Keep
putting out those great records and there will be no stopping HATEBREED!! Ok,
here we go, the first live performance from Damage Plan. I was ready and so was
everyone else in the arena. Wondering and hoping if they would be appreciated
as the new band. And by all my accounts they were taken in with loving metal
arms. Dimebag and Vinnie Paul are still great and Bogzilla and Jason bring it
home. They did everything from their new cd New Found Power and then while still
wondering if we would here some Pantera stuff, it happened. All of a sudden WALK
starts and everyone from Drowning Pool and Mistress Carrie were up on stage
singing right along. Theplace erupted into a full on mosh pit, it was the
highlight of the evening. My thoughts and dreams of this moment came true. I'm
sure it did for all that attended as well. This night gets not two but four Metal
Horns up for the four bands!!!! \m/\m/\m/\m/
