CURIOUSER AND CURIOUSER...

...IS THE WORLD AROUND US. The current issue of the trade magazine PIXEL carries the report that the 35mm film size/format is still the most popular and preferred format around the world. This seems to be in spite of such innovations as APS and digital cameras. When it comes to just 'taking snaps' Joe Public seems wedded to that perforated roll of film.

Now this may surprise some folk, but not us at The Widescreen Centre. Firstly we are well aware just how perverse customers can be in the face of determined marketing (and particularly that which now features 'built-in obsolescence'), and secondly we can tell by the amount of Super-8 film that we sell when many dealers - plus their marketing men in particular - will try to convince you that it doesn't even exist (try ringing Fuji in London and asking about their Single-8 motion picture film). Even more amazing is the fact that sales of BLACK & WHITE movie stock far outstrips that of colour. Here's just s couple of facts for you to chew on:
