What's This All About?
Glad you asked that question.  The picture you just saw is an artist's conception of what the crucifixion of the Christ could have looked like.  Many of you have seen or at least heard of the movie Mel Gibson made, "The Passion of the Christ".  On the same page as the photo, you will find links that will take you to a website for the movie with more info, however, what was depicted in the movie actually happened.  Imagine that!
The Bible tells us in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 2, verse 7, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul".  As we read a little further down to verses 15,16, and 17, we read, "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.  And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die".
Adam, as God named the new man, was given what God calls free will.  He could choose whether to obey God or disobey God.  We find in Chapter 3 that Adam and his wife Eve decided to disobey God.  Along with the disobedience came lack of faith, trust, and belief.  Satan told them that if they ate of the fruit that they would not die but would become like gods knowing good and evil (Gen.3:4).  But what Adam and Eve found out was that they DID die.  Maybe not a physical death, but certainly a spiritual one.  Death is not only a physical separation of the soul and body but a spiritual separation of you from God.  In other words, SATAN LIED AND WE BELIEVED HIM RATHER THAN GOD!!
But we find that all is not lost.  To cover Adam and Eve from their disobedience or sin, God killed an innocent animal (Gen.3:21) and covered them from their nakedness.  Innocent blood had to be shed to cover the sin of another.  With God being a just and holy God, it was not right for innocent blood of the animal (some believed it was a lamb) to be shed without recompense later.  In order to right this, someone with innocent blood had to die to pay for man's great sin unto God.  Once sin entered into the heart of man, he could no longer come to God and commune as he once did in the Garden.  Someone had to pay the price.
Once Adam and Eve sinned, the seed of sin was passed from them throughout the history of man to this day.  Who could be born, without blame, without shame, without sin, and live a life pleasing to God and then sacrifice his life so that we, man, could be reconciled back to a Holy God.?  No one.  But God made a way.  He sent His Son, Jesus, to be born of a virgin, wrapped in a manger, innocent of sin to die for you, die for me, die for all of us just so we can commune with God as we, man, once did.  Jesus Christ gave up all His glory in Heaven and became a man just to save you, and you, and me.  We see Christ in a manger as a helpless, weak, child.  That child grew to become the Savior of the World.  Many have rejected Him, many don't believe He is the Messiah so long awaited.  Many think He was an imposter, a fraud, and a joke.
At the time of His crucifixion, they spat on Him, beat Him beyound recognition, they plucked out part of His beard, and then nailed Him to a rugged cross.  The most humiliating, inhumane way to die.  But He did it so we could be saved.  By that we mean that we can be reconciled back to God the Father.
But that is not the end of the story!!!  Oh, no!  One day He is coming back with all His glory and those that love Him and He will defeat Satan and regain control of this world forever.  And we shall live in peace in the presence of the Holy God and His angels forever and ever.  Amen.  If you don't know Christ as your personal Savior, won't you ask Him into your heart right now.  Tomorrow could be to late.  All you have to say is:  "Lord Jesus, I am a sinner.  I know you came and die for me that I might live.  Come into my heart Lord Jesus.  Save me.  Teach me the way so I may have a new relationship with God the Father.  I acknowledge you as the Son of God and I want you to take over my life.  Make me new.  Make me whole again.  And for this Jesus, I will praise you forever.  Amen."
If you prayed that prayer, e-mail us so we can commune with you more.  Welcome to the family of God. Welcome.  The angels in heaven are rejoicing right now because you made the right decision.  Write us and let us know of your new life.  The e-mail is given below.  God bless.
