Mankind has become blinded by it's own petty thirst for greed. It can't see past that greed and that is what holds back the peace and prosperity in this world. Struggle for power blooms across the land, sprouting up like an out of control virus. Even in a distant dimension, greed for power and wealth is the originating point for wars. In this particular realm, mystical creatures roam and magic is this source of life. The people who use this magic source are called Magic-Users, or Mages as they are more commonly called. Not just the arrogant human uses magic, no. Wonderful and magnificent creatures use it, such as dragons. What will happen to this dimension once it's own greed rapidly spreads? It will be plunged into a war of meaningless death and destructions, of course...
It was a peaceful night in the town of Oreth. Wind brushed through, kicking up small amounts of dirt and leaves that scrape along the ground. The occasionaly fluttering of a window flap, slamming against the house. Not many souls stirred outside of the warmth and comfort of the houses that line the streets. Only the poor and less fortunate are forced to sleep outside in the brutal wind chill that sweeps the town. Rats scurry across the dust trying to find any kind of food that they can salvage. Lights shine out of windows of the wooden houses. However, attention is drawn to the Inn of Forgiven Lands. It is one of the more fancy Inns, three stories tall. Windows crawl up the well painted white walls of the Inn. A post with a mountain chain stands firmly outside, slowly swaying in the breeze. There is a small gathering of five steps, with fine marble hand rails. The door is shiny brown, waxed frequently. Above the door perches a blue shield, and on that shield bare!!s the same marking as the sign, a mountain chain.
Light pours out of the windows of this Inn however. The amount that escapes is far greater than any building that line the street. Inside, the bustle of a crowd, the clanking of metal armor and weapon, and the jibberish of gossip all merge into a single, annoying sound. The topic of these discussions appear to be the massive growing armies of the Magna Empire. The town of Oreth has recieved word that this new empire is ever growing and has conquered many neighboring towns. Maybe even more than Oreth knows about, infact. All they know is that some evil source is behind this, due to the excellence and skill that the Magna Empire's soldiers bare down upon the less trained guards of towns. Oreth hears that only a few Magna Empire soldiers have been killed. This gathering is consisted of the men of the town, and the town guards. However, this is distracted by a small boy draped in white robes. The men have no clue what a young child is doing in an adult's meeting. They !!think he should be home with the women, preparing younger children for bed. Every attempt to talk to this boy, however, has ended in nothing. No response exits the boys mouth, and he doesn't even gaze out of his hood to look at those who disturb him.
This boy looks to be thirteen years old. From what anyone can tell when the boy does examine his surroundings, is that he has an ice blue eye color, and light brown hair. The robe that enshrouds him dangles off of his wrists and legs, but that is common for anyone wearing robes. He doesn't appear to be strong in the arm but for a child his leg muscles seem to surpass any other boys in the town. This is all of the features of the boy that the townsman can gather from the boy. Even his shoes are concealed under that white blanket. After straying from the subject, and taking time to contemplate, the men allow the boy to stay, as he seems lost in his own universe of things. Once again, the bustling starts and the noises consume all of which surrounds it. Soon after, the bustling stops, as people flock the streets wearing worried expressions. A wave of people race towards the back of the town, as another guard bursts through the door.
"The Manga Empire, they've come!" The guard yelled, panting for breath, "We have to ensure the safety of the townspeople!"
Silence broke out, as no one dared say anything. People continued to rush down the street, when a single guard raised his sword into the air. "We will fight until the blood drains from our bodies!" The guard yelled.
Another yell sounded out, as the guards brushed past everyone in the streets. Then, the tinted blue armor of the Magna Empire's footmen was visible. The bore spears and pikes. Behind the footmen were the Dark Knights. A known union for the Magna Empire for their skill. Finally came the archers, weapons poised. Without another moments thought, swords and metal clashed as the handful of guards tried invainly to battle the overwhelming odds of the Magna Empire. Several guards were impaled by spears and pikes, and left to fall lifelessly to the ground. Blood began to wash under everyone's feet, as the Magna Empire continued their brutal assault. Throughout all of this, a single voice was heard. A girl's voice broke through the crowd.
"Father!" She screamed, as she tried to push ahead.
The girl's gaze was fixed on a guard near-by, the guard that had so valiantly led the others into battle. However, this guard was at the mercy of a Dark Knight. The scream rang in his ears, as a blade plunged through the guards chest. The guard flinched, and relaxed, dangling from the edge of a sword. The Dark Knight smirked under his helmet, as he banked the sword. The body of the guard slipped off, and slouched against the side of a house. The Dark Knight turned his attention to the girl, as the girl's mother came running up from behind her. The mother took a defensive stance infront of the girl, as the Dark Knight raised his blade. Then, as he was just about to bring the blade down, a green arrow made purely of acid flew through the air. It impacted the Dark Knight's breastplate and ripped through it. The arrow burst out the other end of the knight, and drove itself into a wall. Steam rose from the hole on the Dark Knight and wall, as acid dripped into the Dark !! Knight's internal organs. The knight fell limply to the ground, as the girl and her mother looked at his attacker. There, white robes fluttering in the breeze, stood the boy from the Inn.
"A Mage!" A footmen called out, as just about everyone's attention turnedtowards the boy.
The boy did not speak, only chanted in a language unfamiliar to them all. The chant of magic. The boy's hands were moving around in a circle, and he pushed his hands forward. From the center of his palms, four red balls of energy sprang out. Each individual one impacted a Magna Empire soldier, making them crash to the ground. Blood streamed out of the knights, forming little rivers of a dark red water. While all of this was happening, the girl and her mother stood amazed at how much the boy could do. Mage's of that powerlevel would be much older, and yet the boy is still more powerful than any Mage that has crossed through Oreth. The fighting continued, as the boy approached the assembly line of the guards.
"You cannon win," The boy spoke, "But, I can help you to put a dent into this attack."
Guards looked over their shoulders, as the boy began to chant. Then, a flashrang out, and the guards were glowing a golden color. The effects of this spell were unknown, until the guards continued to fight. They were moving extremely fast and were actually able to kill the Magna Empire soldiers. The boy walked back to the girl and her mother. He looked over his shoulder.
"Buy us time. You will not be forgotten." The boy said as he gestured the girl and her mother to follow him. The three of them walked away, as the clanking of sword and metal erupted througout the town. Another blast of wind swept through the town and the family of two wept for their lost loved one. The boy did not take off his hood and made no attempt to comfort the two. He let them talk amongst themselves, as their lives rode upon the shoulders of this new stranger.
