Recommended:
Attendance of a minimum of three club meetings or completion of two speeches.

Duties:
The chairman is responsible for opening and closing the regular club meeting and conducting business meetings.

Before the meeting:
Determine any last minute agenda changes and if people are absent find replacements. Mark any changes on your agenda before calling the meeting to order.

During the meeting:
Begin the meeting on time by banging the gavel. Welcome everyone and give your opening comments. Ask for introduction of the guests and members. If any roles still have not yet been filled, ask for volunteers. Announce any other changes to the agenda, then ask the members if there are any additional changes. If any guests arrived after the opening of the meeting, do not embarrass them. Instead, ask at the break if they would like to be introduced, and have the Toastmaster do so when the second half of the meeting begins.Start the meeting by introducing the Invocator, followed by the rest of the meeting participants and agenda items. Some evenings, there will be a brief business meeting scheduled. Obtain the agenda from the President.. Business meetings must follow parliamentary procedures outlined in Robert's Rules of Order. If you are uncomfortable running a business meeting, ask the President, well in advance, to run the session..
If you are conducting the meeting, announce its commencement. Follow through the agenda item by item. Keep the meeting on track; if one point is being discussed and a member brings up an unrelated topic, ask them to write it down so that it can be discussed during "New Business". Whether or not it is on the agenda, always ask if there is any other "New Business" before closing the business meeting. Once the business meeting is closed, Continue with the regular meeting following the meetings agenda. When the Toastmaster is finished his/her duties she/he will return control back to you. Call for any announcement. Thank any Guests for coming and ask for comments from them. Call on someone to close in prayer, then bang gavel and adjurn the meeting.
