Bee's father is a gambler & he mortgage his family's corn farm to get money to gamble. Well by the time he realizes his mistake, it was too late and he comitted suicide. So now it is up to Bee, her mom, grandmother and brother to pay the debts. Since her mom can handle the farm, Bee thinks that she can earn more money if she goes to Bangkok. Even though she loves the farm and didn't want to leave her home. Bee is the type of person who doens't judge a person by their exterior. She judges them on their peronalities. She strongly believes that money cannot make people happy. Only people can make people happy. Her goal is just to make enough money to pay her family's debts and then return home to her corn farm. 

In Bangkok, she is the manager for a big successful Hotel. Everyone loves her and the product of her work is always met with perfection. But when one night someone bombed the upper floors of the hotel, money was running tight in the hotel and she was faced with having to lay off some employees. Since all the employees had financial problems of their own, she decided to sacrifice herself for the greater good. Her boss was sad to hear her decision, and hated to lose such a good manager, so he asked her to come and work in his household as a manager of his servants...until the economy gets better and he can rehire her in the hotel. She reluctantly agrees. 

Sarawut is a carefree struggling reporter for a Chinese Newspaper. He has a lot of negative feelings about the world. He judges people by the way they look. He thinks that rich people are happy and poor people are suffering. AFter hearing about the hotel being bomb, he tries everything he can to get an interview with Bee's boss. But Bee always shoo-ed him away. Sarawut thinks that Bee's boss is corrupt & bombed his own hotel to collect insurance money. And that Bee is aiding in the cover up. After many unsuccessful tries, the newspaper decided to lay him off. He then became a taxi driver. 

But one day he got into a huge car accident with Bee's boss. Everyone was safe but Sarawut pretended to have amnesia so he can get himself into Bee's boss household. Sarawaut is determined to get a story out of Bee's boss so he can get is job at the newspaper back. 

So Sarawut comes to live in the household and slowly realizes that he was wrong about everything. He soon realizes that Bee and her boss are good people. Bee remember him as a reporter and so she thinks he is pretending to lose his memory. No one believes her though. So keeps a close eye on Sarawut while he is in the household. 

Bee and Sarawut start to have feelings for each other. Bee slowlys shows him that life isn't just about money. And that money cannot make people happy. Like the boss's family, they have lots of money but they are not happy. There is no family bonding & the kids are deliquents. The father is too busy with work and the mom is always depressed that no one is around to be with her. While, sarawut's family is poor but they have a lot of family bonding. And the kids are good happy. 

There was a bunch of misunderstandings between Sarawut & Bee. Bee is mad that Sarawut lied about his amnesia while Sarawut thinks that Bee is love with this other ex-servant who is now a famous singer. Another misunderstanding arose when a drunk Sarwut & a drunk female servant was found in the same bed the next day. Of course Bee automatically got the wrong idea, and to spite Sarawut she acts like she is in love with her singer friend.

Sarawut tries desperately to tell her what really happened that night but after seeing Bee with the singer a couple of times, he just lost hope. He felt that the singer had more money, was a better person, and had a better future than him. 

One night he got really drunk and went to the front of Bee's apartment building and yelled out that he loved Bee. He was then arrested but Bee and her singer friend bailed Sarawut out. 

The next day, Sarawut was determined to talk it through with Bee. But she was no where to be found. He searched everywhere and eventually found her on her farm holding hands with her singer friend. Sadden, he was about to leave but Bee noticed him and called out to him. The Singer then explained to Sarawut that Bee and him made a pack--that they would marry at 40 years old if they have not found anyone yet. Elated, Sarawut grab at his chance to talk to Bee....(the singer quietly stepped out of the scene)......... 

A couple of months later, we see Sarawut & Bee, dressed in farmer clothes, hugging each other while they are looking at the farm. And Sarawut states that he has found his "Cabin with the golden light" (he found his Light house....in this dark world. the light will show him the way). 

Interpretationg of the metaphor: "Cabin with the golden light"------- It bascially means happiness-or satisfaction with what one already has! In the movie, people are forever trying their best to make money because they think money can make them happy. But those that do end up being rich...find themselves unhappy. Only those who have discovered their "cabin with the golden light" will be happy.
