Four long cold months were spent on the shore of the arctic ocean repairing

electronic equipment for a seismic exploration company. We worked 16 to 18 hours a day on a three week on one week off rotation. One of the first challenges that I faced was that the camp workshop had been emptied of all tools when the prior crew had vacated so I had to fabricate my own. If anyone has ever told you that you can make a good solder connection using a banana plug as a soldering iron tip....well, you can. If anyone has ever told you that it is impossible to make your own multimeter out of a battery and some left over wire along with an old shoe....well, you can’t. Outside of fabrication the job entailed troubleshooting and repair of vibration sensors and the quarter mile long cable that connected them together.

SEARS ROEBUCK May 1999 - August 1999 Sales Associate

As an Associate in the Shoe department my job included meeting and greeting customers, investigation of needs and wants, and closing the sale. EASY STREET AUTO August 1999 - July 2000 Inventory Manager

Easy Street Auto is a medium sized dealership with 150 - 200 cars available for sale on average. At Easy Street I wore many different hats. I was the vehicle buyer and appraiser. I was also in charge of consignments, wholesale sales, internet sales and webpage design.

My duties as Inventory Manager included making sure that the vehicles were properly maintained and ready for sale. I interfaced with all of the vendors, personally reviewing and authorizing repairs that needed to be made making sure that the vehicle was compliant with current emission laws, fully detailed, the paperwork on each vehicle was accurately completed, entered in the ADP system, the vehicle was properly priced and tracked the vehicles both while they were on the lot and getting repaired.

As wholesale manager I reduced the vehicles in price when they hit the 90 day point and wholesaled both old age and undesirable units.

As Buyer I was charged with keeping the inventory in balance and fresh.

I attended weekly auctions with Alaska Dealers Auto Auctions and spent a great deal of time appraising vehicles and negotiating price with people who came to us wanting to sell their vehicles. I also appraised and submitted bids to the banks for their repossed vehicles.

As Appraiser it was my duty to drive and examine the vehicles that were coming in on trade and giving the Desk Manager a trade number to negotiate with. I was also kept busy doing Surety bond appraisals for insurance companies and banks.

Which brings us to Consignments. According to Websters to consign is to give someone else your property to sell on your behalf. As the consignment manager I met with the parties interested in consigning vehicles, trailers, four wheelers, or whatever. I appraised their vehicle and determined current market value then negotiated the price with them so we had a win-win situation where the consignee was happy with the amount that they got for there property and we could mark up the property enough to keep our lights on and our professional sales staff compensated for their time and effort.

Under the heading of Everything Else.

I was an authorized check signer for the corporation.

Maintained the appearance of the lot.

Planned decorations and promotions.

Supervised two lot attendants.

I am currently a Notary Public for the State of Alaska.

I maintained the company web site at easystreetauto.com and all the computers both on the LAN in the building and off site.

I also was in charge of paying off the trade in vehicles and consignments.

Coordinated information with the sales staff as to what vehicles we had coming in. What had been repaired on the vehicles and what type of vehicles the customers had been asking for.
