| Mesa's roots start as early as spring of 1999. Ryan Hayden (guitar), along with Matt Nevitt (vocals) and the strong hand of Jason Wright (bass) started Mesa. Nevitt was originally the drummer, but soon found his niche and passion in singing. And then with constant auditions and drummers coming and going, one was finally found. They played around the Peoria scene for about 2 years. From the Root of it All was released in 2000. Mesa strided on and kept playing. Soon after, the band recorded a 5 song demo with the same studio production. Then, in the early spring of 2001, and the untimely departure of Jason Wright, Mesa was without a bass player. With the help of the current drummer, Derrick Hostetter, and newly added axe-man, Andrew Smith AKA Vinnie Stylez, a new bassist, Adam Kelley, was brought in. With that, they were ready to jam again. They went on to play many successful shows that summer with the newly added strong arms of the band. Hostetter decided to descend from the band in late summer 2001. With that, the band was stuck yet again. Help soon came nearby from Chano Rodriguez. Familiar with the band's past, he was really willing to give it his best. He is the current drummer, and now the stage is set to cut loose with much new material and shoving all stops out of the way. Prepare yourself for the ultimate live experience....THIS IS MESA! |
