A Science Fair is a grand event in which students exhibit their science, math, or engineering projects to the public. At Summit, the exhibits are judged by professional scientists, engineers, and graduate students from our community. The winners are awarded a chance to compete in the Regional Boulder Valley Science Fair and the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair. Participating in a Science fair is a lot of fun, but also requires quite a bit of work. The nice part about the Science Fair is that you can choose your own topic and your own project. It is one of few times that you make that decision, not your teacher. The complete Science Fair experience is a year-long project. It consists of several big steps:
This sequence of steps is based on the steps that scientists take when they do their research. These steps are called the Scientific Method. Continue to the Guidelines for more information on the Scientific Method.
