Social Security must be maintained to provide for retirement for persons working in this sector. Vocational and educational services to provide for continual upgrading of business related skills must be available through our network of community colleges. Health care that is affordable for employee and employer alike is also essential. Each of these essential components of a thriving private entrepreneurial sector will require ground-breaking legislation.

I am not thinking about running, I am  in the race for State Controller ! Thank you for visiting my website. If you believe it's time to end government waste. If you believe it's time to bring accountability to the state budget. If you believe it's time to put California's financial house in order. Then I ask for your support for State Controller.

Governor Schwarzenegger's failed leadership and foolish public policies have our State at risk!

1) A structural state budget deficit of at least $9 billion.
2) School districts and local governments that are drowning in debt.
3) The lowest credit rating of any state in the nation.
4) $3 billion in annual interest payments on state borrowing.
4) A public pension system on the verge of collapse.
5) A growing government bureaucracy.
6) At least $175 billion in unmet needs for schools and no plan to meet those needs!

I'm running for Controller because California needs a strong fiscal leader, not a career politician, in this important job at such a critical time. I have nearly 20 years of experience running profitable businesses.

THE JOB OF CONTROLLER

The Controller is the state's chief financial officer and is elected by a vote of the people every four years. Duties of the State Controller are prescribed by the Constitution with additional powers or functions set by statute.

The primary function of the State Controller is to provide sound fiscal control over both receipts and disbursements of public funds; to report periodically on the financial operations and condition of both state and local government; to make certain that money due the state is collected through fair, equitable and effective tax administration; to provide fiscal guidance to local governments; to serve as a member of numerous policy-making State boards and commissions; and to administer the Unclaimed Property and Property Tax Postponement Programs.

State Controller's Functions

Account for and control disbursement of all state funds.
Determine legality and accuracy of every claim against the State.
Issue warrants in payment of the State's bills including lottery prizes.
Administer the Uniform State Payroll System.
Audit and process all personnel and payroll transactions for state civil service; exempt employees; state university and college system employees.
Responsible for auditing various state and local government programs.
Inform the public of the State's financial condition.
Administer Estate, Inheritance and Gift Taxes.
Administer tax-defaulted land.
Administer the Unclaimed Property Law.
Enforce collection of delinquent gas tax, truck tax, and insurance tax.
Inform the public of financial transactions of city, county and district governments.
Administer Property Tax Postponement Program.
