It's an awful truth that suffering can deepen us, give a greater luster to our colors, a richer resonance to our words.  That is, if it doesn't destroy us, if it doesn't burn away the optimism and the spirit, the capacity for visions, and the respect for simple yet indepensible things.

I love that.  I came across it as I was reading today (a book I should have finished years ago).  Words can so vividly expose truth.  I've also been reading Bagombo Snuff Box, uncollected short fiction by one of my favorite writers, Kurt Vonnegut -- someone who seems to have seen Truth face to face many times.  I'm moved every time I'm able to touch the essence of the human spirit through reading.  And for all you cynics out there who think that no real truth can pass through a human filter, I'll argue that a lot of times there is nothing more true than words sifted through the heart, sieved from the mind, and extracted from experience.

I am so blessed to have as many warm and compassionate friends as I do.  They remind me that love is intrinsic by nature, not something that can be given or earned.

I was playing Tic-Tac-Toe with some customers today.  I won *three* times in a row!  Unbelievable.  I don't think I'm an exceptionally good Tic-Tac-Toer or anything, but c'mon now, nobody should be winning at Tic-Tac-Toe anymore.  That game was designed to end in a draw.

I'm addicted.  I'm addicted because these games are SOO much fun and highly addictive.  Screw Gamecube.  To heck with Xbox.  Viva la Wonka!
NERDS Rope GameOompa Rush Game.   Diamonds in the rough ...

And while I'm promoting fun and addictive games, let me take the time to applaud
Yahoo! Games.  For the past three or four years, Yahoo! has provided me hours of distraction from studying and writing papers.  Cribbage and Literati are where the action's at.

4:27am.  My whole sleeping schedule is seriously screwed up.  One night of reckless board game-playing and the sun becomes a mere myth.  Not that this hasn't happened before, but I do have to be smiling and making change in 6.5 hours.
