~*~ My Costume ~*~

Here it is, in all its lovliness. Isn't it? Ok, yeah never mind. Right.  So you came here to find out how I made it? Cool!

In about June, 1998, I became really obcessed with CATS.
I rather dragged my brother into it. (Ok, well, sister, but that's besides the point ;) )

I figured, it'd be cool do do a skit from CATS. A week or two later, I fell in love with Mungo and Rumple, and there you have it.

My costume was actually supposed to be the movie's Rumple
(Jo Gibb) and my brother's was supposed to be the movie Mungo.
Turns out we look more like teh London Mungo and Rumple, but who cares?

We did a lot of planning, and what we finally came up with was:

For me:

*1* a black leotard, some pearls, a leopard-print handkerchief, a pair of white tights, dance shoes.

*2* Some white base (makeup), black eyeliner.

For him:

*1* A black leotard, a big white tank-top, leopard-print black pants, dance shoes.

*2* same.

The next step, we figured, was a tail. We were totally clueless. We went to  a Target (copyright?) store, just for whatever, and we saw these boas, which were in fashion then. I almost had a heart-attack when I saw this brown one. So what if it was $10? The boa was actually long enough for us to cut in half, and we split the cost, making purrrfect tails for $5 each! We attached them to belts, and our tails were done!

Our Aunt, actually, came up with this leopard-print excercize top, so I wore that.

The basic theme of our costumes was opposites. I was going to have leopard-print on top, and stripes on the bottom, and he was going to have the other way around.

Next, I painted my tights, which had stripes. I can't tell you what colour I painted them, because I mixed every colour in our repotuor of paint, including hot pink, teal, puke-yellow, and green. ;) I used the same paint for The tank top. I also painted a little hand-thing for Mungo (Pic coming soon).

Now, for the makeup. We put white base of the top of our faces, then some dark no-name coverup that we bought at an Odds 'n' Ends store. The detailwork was done with a black eyeliner. The makeup we do now is much more complicated, with other stuff, but it's too hard to explain! ;)

For our hair, we just spiked it. Now, we put them into two buns, as my brother has long hair.

There you have it! That's about it.

Coming soon - My friend, who I've recently "converted" to CATS, 's costume...
                                                                                Demeter!
