This is Mertle. She is an Ornate box turtle. Mertle and her friends live in an outdooor environment, Which we constructed for her and her friends. Mertle loves to eat Strawberries directly off the plant when they grow in the spring. Her diet consist of cantalope, plums, peaches, apricots and mix veggies. She also enjoys cycle lite can dog food. Mertle is not a hunter since she was born in captivity. She will not eat live insects or worms. Snails can ride on her back without fear of being eaten. Mertle loves to explore and doesn't seek shelter like most box turtles. We have had her for about 7 years now. We are not sure of Mertles age. Mertle was our first turtle. We now have four other box turtles named Morris Tina Cecil and Franklin the newborn turtle. We also have two red ear sliders named Little guy and baby. These two have lived in a small selfmade pond for three years now. Here are a some photos of the turtles and their home.
