| Ms. Mary rescued me from a shelf in a shop in the airport when she was on her way home from exploring Manhattan with her Minnesota friends. I watched Ms. Mary walk into the shop, and I looked her over, and I thought to myself, "I think that's the one I want to go home with." She had her eyes on the bears as she walked by us. I thought she was going to walk right on by. Then she stopped, and she looked at all of us. Then she looked at me, just me, and my little heart started beating so fast it made the "New York City" on my chest start to jiggle. Ms. Mary touched the foot of the bear right next to me, and then she moved her hand over to my foot. She smiled at me. Then she picked me up and hugged me and didn't let go until she had to set me on the shop counter to pay my bill for room and board. When I snuggled down in Ms. Mary's carryon bag, I discovered I wasn't alone. Huggy was there, and so was Miss Liberty Melody Barbara Hope Francis. The baby was a little scared, so Huggy and I wrapped our arms around her and we all went to sleep. When we woke up, we were here and everybody on the bookshelf was so excited to see three of us coming from New York. Just in case you don't know it, "Big Apple" is another name for New York City. |
