Menagerie Messages List

July 14, 2004 - From Rafe, Rolf, Princess Ida, Silly Sally, and Andante Amadeus Armadillo to KatieBear:

Of course we remember you; your parka has forget-me-nots on it.

KatieBear, your friends in Fairbanks send their greetings.  Rolf and Rafe, the Huskies say, Woof, woof!  And Princess Ida, the blue horse, says Hi, too.  Andante Amadeus Armadillo, who you never met cuz he lives at Ms. Katies music studio, says hello, except he sang it in Italian. Silly Sally the clown would have laughed and made fun of him if she had heard it.  She
doesnt understand Italian.  Ms. Katie is a music teacher and she teaches us how to sing; she even names us after her favorite musicians or opera characters from Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Silly Sally wont pay attention though and tries to distract us.

We are glad for fans here, too; today it was somewhere between 86 and 92.  It wasnt too smoky;  I dont think that Smoky the Bear has been able to do a very good job as 2.5 million acres have already burned in Alaska, and this is nowhere near the end for the fire season.

That was really nice of Patriot Bear to help you write to us.  You can tell New Bunny that there are such things as blonde grizzlies. Ms. Katie got to see a real black bear on her trip back from Whitehorse.  We had to stay home and be the guards for her little apartment.  We are pretending that it is Christmas in July because Ms. Katies Christmas cactus has one blossom on it!  It has never bloomed in July! We can hardly wait for the flower to open up!  She also has a gloxinia that waited to bloom until after she got back from MN.  It has always bloomed in June!  We know that before she moved into her little apartment that she had a jungle in her living room. We hope that someday we can play hide and seek in a living room jungle.  We hope that she will be able to find a house so we can see it sometime.

Ms. Katie needs us to be guards because she has hardly been home this summer.  She is going to Washington, D.C. for some training at the end of July and early August.  She wants to go to Vancouver, B.C. over Christmas and maybe to San Diego for next years spring break, one of her sons lives in Lake Elsinore. She told us that this year she needed to travel, so off she goes
and then back, and then off again. We are good guards and take very good care of her apartment.  We never chew on the furniture because she keeps doggie treats for us, and she has lots of very good music for listening.

KatieBear, were glad you found a new home with Ms. Mary and lots of new friends.  Maybe someday Ms. Mary will take you to the ocean to go swimming, since polar bears love to swim. Just make sure you dont shake out all of the water on Ms. Mary. And dont go out too far in the bay.

We all send you our love, hugs and dog kisses, Silly Sally is just being silly - we think that she misses you.
