In the past there has been some problems between the council and the throne. When Eldron de danu (the queens father) had just reached the throne through the untimely death of Donn de danu after a long illness, the council took over for a while. The king was still king but due to his age and lack of experience all power passed to the council. The process had already started when Donn was ill and some have rumored insane.
King Eldron survived as a puppet for some time, hiding his intelligence and slowly working towards regaining power. The nobles did not rule very well and the common people were not happen also the kingdom was heavily under threat from both inside and outside at the time.
During this time, when he was about 29, Eldron de danu met the daughter of Lord Robin, Elanandra Robin while he father was visiting Torn. He fell in love, and asked for her hand. Lord Robin agreed and gave his loyalty to Eldron. He and his daughter then returned to Ellis and Eldron then somehow got the council to approve the marriage. Some believe that Lord Robin had gained their trust and they thought they knew his limitations, others say they planned to assassinate him so Eldron would remain isolated. I think through my study of historical documents that they knew of a planed the goblin attack on the province of Ellis and expected Lord Robin would die in battle (or aimed to make it so). However Lord Robin and his family survived the attack and returned to Torn in time for the date the marriage had been set for. Lord Robin left two days later to return to protect Ellis, he also brought some magic users that he had hired with him. Morgan de danu was born four months after the marriage, this suggests that Elanandra was loyal to Eldron due to love. Three years later Donn was born.
The king the reacted to an attack on his life in his 40s and regained power. He had gathering all people he could trust, which included a number of the army and Lord El, and defeated his enemies. He killed the ringleader and gained hostages to secure the loyalty of various families. He then introduced reforms that gained the loyalty of the citizens of Torn. Next he reset the council under the loyal Lord El, who helped him restructure it so that the council would not be able to repeat its actions. Some wonder why he did this, why not destroy it? But if his father really was insane he would have seen a need for something to balance the rulers power. Some of the laws of the state was changed around now including those regarding inheritance of the throne.
Some time later some of the nobles who still lived and some enemies against the state, tried to assassinate the king. This was timed to coincide with an invasion of Torn. The bodyguard at the time was involved; the captain of the royal guards (the young Badb) at the time prevented it. The Ringleaders were captured. Badb was made royal bodyguard. She improved the protection of the king through a number of measures. The role of captain of the royal guard ended up being algamated as there was no one trustworthy available for some time she was doing both roles anyway and the kingdom was now at war.
King Edron had survived but the kingdom needed to be protected so he rode to war. Queen Elanandra took over the rule of Torn from Tol (and watched the council). She also kept watch on a number of hostages. The war took some time to win and was very hard. General Eliard Wyndon rose to light then. He became a war hero and was most loved by the common people, who had by then suffered very badly at the hands of the snake people or Yuan-Ti.
After the great battle of Detran, King Eldron returned for a short time to Torn, after two days he announced the engagement of his daughter to General Eliard Wyndon. The city was shocked as all had expected that the princess would marry the noble lord El. All knew that they were friends and he was held in very high regard. Rumors were that the king had to order Lord El not to challenge General Eliard Wyndon to single combat. The marriage went ahead three days later. One year later He declared General Eliard as Heir. By then King Eldron was worn by the strains of battle and saw more ahead (seen diary IX section 5). It was probally due to this the risked the attack on the fortress of Baldur-doom, Witnesses say, he ended up fighting the Sorcerer Malharov hand to hand. He killed Malhavoc. However before he died, Malharov the dark, released a spell that killed King Eldron. Queen Ellanandra decided not to have Eldron raised as his deity prevents this.
