It was, "the war to end all wars" but sadly it served only to usher in an even greater age of conflict and bloodshed in Europe.

After reviewing the video clip answer the following questions:

1) In her diary, what does the nurse mean when she uses the term, "head cases"?

2) Were there any positives for being wounded during the war?

3) What are some of the sympotoms for shellshock?  How long could shellshock last? Do you believe that shellshock really exists? Explain your answer.


Finally...
4) Write your own poem describing the harsh realities of war.  For inspiration look at Eva Dobell's poem, "Pluck," or, John McCrae's poem, "In Flanders Field."  They are located at the end of the clip.
