Why were cats so important in Egyptian life?
Egyptians thought cats to be important because they kept themselves clean. They were beautiful and they were skillful hunters. Cats and humans had strong relationships; they were not just house pets, but hunters. Cats kept the Egyptian's grain crops safe from mice. Cats preyed on Cobras, a poisonous snake that harmed the Egyptians.

The most important breed is believed to be Felis Lybica Ocreata, which is the ancestor of today's Mau. Mau means cat in Egyptian and it is the sound cats make. Mau is believed to be the firts domestic cat and is the only spotted domestic cat. The Mau is graceful and intelligent and has a medium long body and tail. They are tha fastest domesticated runners reaching thirty-six miles per hour because of their belly flap. The belly flap allows the hind legs to stretch out pretty far. Their eyes have an almond shape and are green but when they are about a year old their eyes turn an amber color. Their bodies have random spots that are all different sizes and shapes and their legs and tails are striped. They are active, outgoing, and adventurous cats. They also have and affectionate personality. They have a wedged round head and big ears. They have a small feet wiht five toes on their front legs and four toes on their hind legs.
