Since the

beginning of time,

mankind has

existed between

the world of light,

and the world

of darkness.

This journal

chronicles the

work of our secret

society, known as

The Legacy,

created to protect

the innocent from

those creatures

that inhabit

the shadows and

the night.

Amongst the Dineh, the people commonly called Navaho, there is the belief that those who practice witchcraft can "wear the skins" of other animals. Those most commonly selected are the coyote, the bear, and the wolf, ma?i.coh. These shape-shifters are called Skinwalkers.

I deeply apologize for any errors I may have made in Deneh or Hopi spelling, as well as any misunderstandings or misrepresentations of their religions or cultures for which I have nothing but the highest regard.

Lewis, Pen Densham, & John Watson) with MGM/UA. Poltergeist: The Legacy licensing held by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM/UA Distribution Co. Inc., 1996-1998.

All characters other than Nick Boyle, Philip Callaghan, Frank Carmack, Christina, Katherine Corrigan, Rachel Corrigan, Dominick FitzGerald, Alexandra Moreau, Barbara Rayne, Derek Rayne, Ingrid Rayne, & William Sloan are my own creations. The following was written strictly for pleasure. No monetary gain is intended.

Special thanks also to the cast who bring these characters to life each week; to Selena, my sounding board, & to fellow Internet surfers who provided much valuable information: Gordon, the helicopter pilot; John, at UCSB; Randal, of Flagstaff; & JJL, of Window Rock. Thanks also to the loyal viewers of P:TL & to the denizens who haunt Clarianna's website & others like it.

This story is set between the P:TL season 2 episodes, Let Sleeping Demons Lie & Trapped.

The work quoted from in Chapter 16 was Navaho Witchcraft, by Clyde Kluckhorn (Boston: Beacon Press, 1967).
