Angel Island Inferno Angel Island Mystery Deepens

Reuters San Rafael - As private, county, state, and federal authorities continue to sift through the rubble of the headquarters' of the Luna Foundation, disturbing facts have come to light. Undisclosed sources intimate with the Marin County Arson Unit state that investigators have found traces of C-4 explosives on some of the debris. The FBI been brought in to assist and has been questioning various foundation members about a possible terrorist threat. However, a confidential informant has reported that the foundation kept such explosives on hand for supposed use in archaeological digs and that foundation members have also been questioned concerning the mental state of Dr. Derek Rayne prior to the blast. in the conflagration.
The source states that Dr. Rayne was instrumental in getting everyone safely from the structure prior to the disaster and that the authorities' primary interest is now focusing upon a conversation Dr. Rayne was alleged to have had earlier in the evening with Dr. Rachel Corrigan, a local psychiatrist and one of the foundation's associate directors. The purported conversation reportedly centered upon Dr. Rayne's relationship with his father, whose tragic death he witnessed at the age of fifteen, as well as some very emotional concerns he expressed about the nature of God and death. |
Dr. Corrigan has
allegedly pled "patient confidentiality" and has retained
legal counsel.
This paper has also learned that, due to the recent stock market downturn, the Luna Foundation had suffered moderate financial loses. In the meantime, foundation spokesman, Nicholas Boyle, announced that temporary offices will be opened in the groundskeeper's cottage and at the security office near the ferry landing at Ayala Cove. He also stated that several significant artifacts that were a part of the foundation's extensive collections have been found damaged, but in tact, including the Rayne sword, which is the Luna Foundation's symbol and logo. |
