Koan
Dictionary defonition: A puzzling, often paradoxical statement or story, used in Zen Buddhism as an aid to meditation and a means of gaining spiritual awakening.

Starts and Ends
In the morning the sun rises, beginning the start of a new day. How can the start of a day be determined by a sunrise? For some, the day starts at night for others, another time. Starts and ends have no meaning. The sun will show itself and then disappear, much like a human's sleep cycle. The rice is eaten and the bowl is refilled with a later hunger. It is the simple and everyday ongoing events that keep the world turning.

Fire and Ice
Love is the single greatest beauty in the universe it is said. To have and to make one and oneself happy is a jewel. A hot sun may shake the early buds but cool morning dew will compliment them. Strong bonds are ageless if made properly. Life is the path in which we wander, love, the pleasant and beautiful flower smelt from the path that leads to another between and true love is the intricate spread of tea leaves left in the bottom of the cup.

Simple Individuality
Cicadas in the trees sing the skies above. Individuals are known for their differences and overlapping qualities, much as the season's turnings overlap but construct each uniquely different. A Peony is five petals lucky and lavender in origin. The white is of emotions. The colors of five petals are daunting while some peonies are of many lavender shades. To think and dwell on one an ugly peony is simply not possible. If all have the same amount of petals, what can be said for color?

Time Passing
If one was asked why it snows in autumn, he would be told that the leaves and sakura fall as such. If one questions spring's chill it is meant that winter has not showed itself out as of yet. Could it be said that the more the snow falls, the hotter it must be? Too far off objects in celestial surrounding it must be so, for here is a tropical paradise of winter.
