Aegeus is a foreign king, who is also Medea's friend. He is passing through on a journey when Medea relates her tale of Jason's infidelity and her banishment. He is understanding to her plight, and offers her a safe haven in his country if she chooses to go there. I put him in calming blues as he is a calming influence in Medea's life. He wears silver finery, to contrast with Creon's ostentatious gold, but as he is traveling he is not as heavily laden with trimmings.
