It was a Friday in fall. Walking in the park, seeing the leaves on the trees, the spectacle of colours, I felt myself returning to nature. The rain only added to the picturesque beauty as the drops fell from leaf to leaf. The sounds of these precious drops accompanied by that of the cool breeze was all that could be heard. The gentle sounds they created started me on the path to tranquility. The birds flew in their elegant formations, rising against the beating rain and gliding with the wind, obeying Allah completely. Then, as I was walking, I looked in the distance and stopped. Quickly, the beauty I was being privileged to see sank in. On both sides of the stream were trees with colours of gold, red and green. How I yearned to paint, to capture that picture. There was a bend and I could not see the rest. I saw the rain feeding the earth, feeding the animals and feeding the trees.

However, I used more than my eyes to see. With my heart, I saw the perfect harmony of these trees, these birds, all coming together to form one lovely idea � the magnificence of nature. As I continued to stare, I could feel happiness pouring into my heart. Strange though it may be, my thoughts and feelings were absorbed into this setting. The purity of nature fused with my heart. There were no feelings of hate, resentment or envy. These wonderful parts of nature were obeying the laws prescribed to them, seemingly unaware of their own beauty. It was here that I was reminded of my Creator, my Source of Hope and how complete I can be if only I submit to the divine laws, as nature does, and rid myself of the evil that pecks at the hearts of humans. It was here that I gained a deeper desire to free my heart, my soul and my mind by following that which nature follows. Life is but moments and just as these birds will not live forever, just as that moment did not last forever, nor will this body that my soul inhabits. I realised that to give my heart to this life would be like giving my entire heart to that moment, a temporal state in which everything is in a constant flux.
