| Here we are, at the first studio album in eight years! And in this day and age what an album it is! John Tardy's throaty growls are still present and as still going strong, as are brother Don's double bass work. With the same lineup since the days of 'the end complete' returning, one could expect the same old obituary right? Yes, but there is always a few gripes and here are mine. Even though these guys stayed true to what they do, I didn't really care for the somewhat monotonous pace that was kept, and there was little to no change ups in any of he songs. For me I preferred them back on 'slowly we rot' when they'd break and toss in a really heavy riff about 3 minutes into a song. But oh well, these days you gotta salute a band who, once again, stayed true despite all the gay garbage being released. But those nitpipcks set aside, this is still a killer, heavy album and a must for obituary fans or metal lovers alike, not one to dub a completist-only release at all. | ||||||||||
