Earthlings and Aliens: Part Three
By Alex Manno, the creator of Earthlings and Aliens and The End of the World
It all started one zylyte (8 months) after Zaccona saved Zork's life a second time. It was Zork's 12th birthday, but he didn't have a party like every other year. Instead, he got up early and went to the edge of the cliff near his house. He always went there to think, but this time he stayed there the longest. He was still thinking of what happened one zylyte ago. Zork sat dangerously close to the edge. He looked next to him and saw a few ashes sitting there. He picked them up. He looked down at the bottom of the cliff, and somehow this area looked familiar. He remembered doing something here as a baby, but he couldn't remember what it was. Anyway, he remembered that it had something to do with death. He decided to do what he heard Earthlings did: bury the ashes. No Mercurian has done this Earth ritual before, so he tried it out. He dug a deep hole next to the edge of the cliff. He then buried the small amount of ashes he had. But as he was covering the hole, he thought of something: wouldn't the ashes be gone by now if they had been there when he was a baby? There must have been something special about those ashes...
Finally, he was done covering the hole. But thinking about death made Zork think of his mom. A tear landed from his cheek onto the where the ashes were buried. Zork then ran inside. But as soon as he got near the cave, he heard a voice: "Zork! Zork, you've done it! You've awoken me!" Zork jumped. He looked behind himself and saw a white, silvery hologram where the hole had been. It looked just like the hologram of his mom in the living room. The only difference was that it was white, like the holograms they had in the old days.
"It's and old fashioned hologram of my mom!" Zork said. However, he still needed to know where the voice came from.
"Zork, honey, it's me! Your mom! Oh, you've grown so much!" the hologram said. Zork jumped in shock again. He ran towards it. It wasn't a hologram! It was his mom's ghost! Zork was so happy! Tears of joy ran down his cheeks.
"Zork! You awakened me! Now we can play forever!"
"Mom... it's... it's really you!" Zork said as he hugged the ghost.
"That's right, Zork, it's me. I'm here forever."
"Just one question, Mom," Zork said. "What did you always used to call me?"
"Zork, of course!" the ghost of Zaccona said.
"I thought so." Just then, Zork pushed the ghost of his mother off the cliff. The ghost screamed, and it exploded soon before it hit the ground. Zork looked up at Earth, which was visible from Mercury.
"You can't fool me!" Zork yelled. "People can't touch ghosts! And my mom called me Zorky!" Zork knew from the moment he hugged the ghost that it was a fake sent by Earthlings.

Meanwhile, in the NASA Space Station...

"Curses!" Bob yelled. "We sent our best weapon to Mercury and it failed! I thought sending a robot that could change shape would be a good idea! The robot's blown up by now and the enemy's still on our radar!"
"Gee," George said. "Maybe you should have made the robot explode sooner. Then it would have killed the alien. Not that I want the alien to be killed..."
    "Shut up, George."

Back on Mercury...

The next day, Zork returned to the cliff. He looked down at the bottom and thought. Why did the Earthlings want to kill them?
"Why must you be so evil?" Zork yelled at Earth.
"Because they think that Mercurians are evil," said a voice. Zork turned around and saw the ghost of his mom. "Hi, Zorky."
