| Earthlings and Aliens: Part Two By Alex Manno |

| It had been two Zenons since Mercury was "attacked" by the earthlings. Zark kept standing guard outside his cave-home, while Zork hid inside and played video games (his favorite was Attack of the Earthlings). Zark even let Zork skip school ("Aww, that's too bad," Zork had said earlier. Then, when Zark was gone, he said "Yesss!"). But now it was just getting boring. Zork had been in his cave-home for days. But, two Zenons after the "attack," something happened. More spaceships. They were all coming straight towards Mars. "I knew it!" Zark said. "You stay away! Away!" But the spaceships just got closer. So Zark ran inside and said to Zork "Come on, son. Into the UFO." "Why?" Zork asked. "Am I going to school?" "No," Zark said. "Here, take this laser gun." Zork looked at his toy gun. "But what about this?" he asked. "That one's fake, take this one!" Zark said in a harsher voice. "Earthlings, outside, a lot, attacking, now! Normally, I wouln't let you outside during an earthling attack..." (He sighed and looked at the 3D hologram picture of Zaccona, his wife, on the table) "But we'll all die if I don't have some help." "Wow!" Zork said, taking the laser gun. "You're always so protective because of Mom, and now..." "Just follow me already!" Zark yelled at Zork, scaring him. They both ran ouside and into the UFO. Meanwhile, at the NASA Space Station on Earth... "Ha!" said Bob from Ground Control. "Luckily, we armed our troops with laser guns. They'll land on Mercury, without the aliens expecting a thing, and then..." BAM! "Wow," George, his assistant, said. "That was one realistic BAM! noise." "That..." Bob said. "...wasn't me..." Back on Mercury, just a few minutes earlier... "Son! Come on!" Zork and Zark ran into the UFO. They flew up into space, and began shooting at the earthlings out of their windows. But the earthlings were armed, too, and they were shooting out of their windows. A few of the lasers hit each other and each made a small explosion. As the earthlings and aliens got closer, their accuracy got better. And finally, when they were about a half of a mile away from each other, the earthlings made a direct hit. Zark and Zork hurtled around in the UFO as it shook violently. And then... BAM! Meanwhile, in the NASA Space Station on Earth... "What happened?" Bob asked. Did they kill the aliens? "Actually," George said, "it might have been a misunderstanding. Maybe the aliens aren't evil, and they just thought we were trying to kill them." "Well," Bob said. "Now we ARE trying to kill them! They knew very well we meant no harm at first, and they hate us! Now, we need to..." But, just as Bob was about to finish his sentence, two bodies landed right next to them (they were hurtling down so fast, they broke through the roof). Whoever they were, they were dead. "Aliens!" Bob said. "Yes!" "Nooo!" George said. "I mean... Yes! Uh... yes..." Apparently, George still thought it was all a misunderstanding. "Wait a second..." Bob said. "They just look like aliens because they're on fire! They're humans! No!" Just then, more flaming humans came through the roof. Back on Mercury... "Dad," Zork said to Zark that night. "What happened earlier?" "Well," Zark said. "We were bouncing around in our UFO, and then... Did you see her, too?" Zork nodded. "Yes... I think only we could see her... She saved our lives. She's watching us up there, you know. She's keeping us alive. Just like what she did 11 years ago. I still don't know how she actually stopped the meteor from hitting Mercury... It seemed impossible. But she saved your life, son. She saved all our lives. She saved Mercury. And now she saved us again." |
