| Earthlings and Aliens By Alex Manno |

| Once upon a time, on Mercury, there lived a small, green alien named Zork. He was a timid little alien, and always afraid of people from Earth coming to Mercury. One day, he was lying in a big crater with his dad, Zark. "Dad?" Zork said. "Yes?" replied Zark. "What's that little white thing rumored to be near Earth?" "That's a moon, son. A lot of other planets have them, but we don't." "Oh." Zork and Zark kept relaxing for a little while. Then, suddenly, Zork thought of another question. "What would happen if an Earthling came here?" "Don't worry, son, they won't. Earthlings are weaklings who can't withstand Mercury's heat. Our planet can get up to 427 degrees Celsius, and down to -173 degrees Celsius. That's too hot and cold for them." "Oh.... What's Earth like, Dad?" "Earth is a despicable place. It's full of something called water and there are a bunch of strange creatures that live there. Mercury, however, is nicer. As you know, it's dry and barren and it has many craters." "Whoa," Zork said. Just then, they both noticed something coming from Earth. It was white and long, and it was heading straight for them! "Oh no!" Zark said. "They've done it! The puny Earthlings have figured out how to withstand our heat!!! Go inside, son, quickly! I'll take care of the Earthlings!" Zork quickly ran inside as Zark pulled out a laser gun. "Take this, invaders!" Zark screamed at the spaceship as he fired a giant laser at it. Meanwhile, in Earth's NASA Space Station... "What a shame," said Bob from Ground Control. "We figured out that aliens exist, we build heat-resistant space suits, and then the aliens attack us. And we just wanted to be friends with them." "Yeah," said George from Ground Control. "And I always thought that aliens were afraid of us." "I highly doubt that," Bob said, as Zork was cowering in his cave-home, screaming for his dad. |
