Click to enlarge Raziah is the eldest, and favorite, daughter of House Sulamaad, of Tarabon. Her entire life, she has been the "perfect" daughter, causing some friction between Raziah and her two younger sisters and her two brothers, one older and one younger. One time, her younger brother Alabin put a spider on her pillow, right before she went to bed. She didn't notice it until it crawled right across her face. Ever since, spiders have absolutely terrified her, and she has made her hand maid, Lalle, kill ever spider that comes within the same room as her. But even with the little bit of friction, Raziah is close friends with her siblings.

She grew up at the Chrysanthemum Manor, the family house, which over looks the Aryth Ocean. As a child, Raziah's education consisted mainly of the things any Noble would be expected to know, The Old Tongue, history, some politics, but she also learned arts, such as playing the harp, or needlepoint. Her parents also made a point of teaching each of their children about trade, for that is where the family wealth comes from. She has never been one for outdoor activities, and her abilities show it. Raziah has fairly basic knowledge in areas like horseback riding or archery, her parents even taught her some unarmed defense technique, never knowing when a possible assassin might show up, but even thinking about taking a long brisk ride makes her tired.

House Sulamaad has been closely linked to the Royalty of Tarabon since the Hundred Years War, and has often sent sons and daughters as suitable matches for the Royal line. The current King, Beymer, at one time wanted to marry Raziah's mother, though she opted to marry Raziah's father Tadziq, of House Rayamaad. Raziah is related to Saldi, the current Panarch of Tarabon, who shares a grandmother with Benasir. When Raziah was about 18, her mother, Benasir, took her to Tanchico for her formal presentation to Court. King Beymer's advisor, Herinde Ceranthos Aes Sedai of Illian took an interest in Raziah at her presentation. Later that night, she spoke with Raziah and told her that with the proper training, she could be taught to channel the One Power. When told this, Benasir made immediate plans to move the family into their townhouse in Tar Valon, the Balasun Manor, so that she would not have to be far from her "Adored One".

Raziah has the potential to be a quite gifted channeler, though that depends on how well she practices her lessons. Herinde Sedai taught her a few things about Channeling and the One Power, not how to, but enough so that she would have some idea what she was looking forward to in the Tower. Something else that she will learn, is that she will never be much of a healer, even with the little knowledge of herbalism passed on by her mother.
