Robert Campbell
Isabelle Z Campbell was the last Campbell in our line, her family having been here since the early 1700s.  Her GGG grandfather, Robert Campbell, was the earliest Campbell to arrive here in the colonies.  All of Robert's children were born in Northern Ireland (Ulster Co), but there are some discrepancies whether Robert himself was born in Ireland or Campbelltown, Argyleshire, Scotland.
It is rumoured that Robert was the son of Duncan John Campbell, The First Earl of Breadalbane, and the Campbell leader of the Massacre at Glencoe.

Robert married twice.  HIs first wife was Janet Stuart.  (It has been claimed that Janet Stuart descended from the Royal Stuart line, and connects our family to the Plantaganet Kings.)

Robert was Presbyterian, and was one of the founding members of the first Presbyterian church in Connecticut, the
Voluntown Presbyterian Church, organized Oct 15, 1723.
(The church's first leader, Rev Samuel Dorrance was originally from Ireland. )
The Clan Campbell
Samuel Campbell (1736-1819), Robert Campbell's grandson and a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War, built the Campbell House in West Rutland.  It still stands and is the oldest house in W Rutland.
