Sitting Rifle Shooting Position and Review Positions
                        Objective
At the conclusion of Lesson IV you will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the knowledge, skill, and attitude needed to safely shoot a rifle from
    the sitting position.

2. Show progress towards earning the Marksmanship Qualification Award.

                              Sitting Position


1. Step 1 - Study characteristics of position
    a. Position of body
       * body sits on ground
       * legs are extended from body, bent at knees with ankles crossed
       * elbows rest on legs just in front of knees
       *rifle fore-end rest in left hand
       * right hand grasps
    b. Position of the rifle
       * butt of stock is positioned against shoulder so rifle sights are at eye level
2. Step 2 - Practice postion without rifle (follow these steps to get into the sitting
                position)
    a. Holding rifle in both hands, move to firing point
    b. Turn body to right of target
    c. With rifle in left hand, sit down
    d. Extend legs, with knees bent, crossing left ankle over right
    e. Place elbows forward of knees
    f. Raise rifle to eye level and position against shoulder
3. Step 3 - Practice position with rifle
4. Step 4 - Align position with target
    a. Vertical adjustments can be made by moving the left hand forward (lower rifle) or
        to the rear ( raise rifle) on the fore-end
    b. Horizontal adjustments can be made by rotating the position left or right around
        buttocks
5. Step 5 - Dry-firing rifle at target
6. Step 6 - Shoot groups ot target with live ammunition
