FROM THE EAST

Fratenal Greetings Brothers,

It is with a happy heart that I say we passed our inspection. This being my first year in the Oriental Chair the scope of what had to be done was a bit daunting at first. Fortunately Dan Beal offered to learn the lecture and Doug Paulson the charge. Both did exceptional performances. After many months of Ray Gieling and me banging the phones we were only short a few members for the Fellow craft team. Those positions were filled in by Temple Lodge and Willoughby Lodge. It was also great to see many of our Past Masters in attendance and assisting with the degree. WM John David did a fine job as the west gate and WM Allan Brandenburg was a Steward for us the other steward was the Candidates father. Also in attendance and looking well were WM Jesse McCready and WM Ewing Peeler whom you may remember is battling cancer. For the second section of the degree the candidates father was able to raise his son with my assistance and the joy in both of their eyes was the icing on the evenings cake. I believe both father and son are going to be additions to our line next year.

June 13th is the Grand Masters one day class. Mentor Lodge already has one candidate signed up for this day. Hopefully well get a few more signed up before the deadline. We are still planning a Rusty Nail degree and a Table Lodge for either June or August. If there isnt time to place the dates in the Painesville Mason well send out emails notifying you of the dates and times of those events. Ray Gieling and I sent out questionnaires regarding addresses and or phone numbers of current membership. While we were trying to gather a Fellow craft team we learned that our lodge records are very out of date. Many people are dropping their home phones and just having a cell phone.

We have some interesting things planned for the coming months. August 15th we will again be going to the Lake County Captains game. This is a fireworks night. For under twenty dollars you can eat watch a ballgame and see fireworks. WM Jesse McCready started this event a few years back and the attendance from our lodge in the past was around 80 people. I would like to see if we can fill an entire section this year. Remember we are collecting food to give to the local food banks and there is a box at the temple or it can be given to Ray or myself.

Please keep Brother William Wighaman and his family in your prayers to the almighty for he passed to that celestial Lodge above on May 4th of 2009.

Fraternally,
Richard J. Lesko, WM
