I have no fire of my own
Of my own, of my own
I have no fire of my own
To ward of cold and night

I have no shelter of my own
Of my own, of my own
I have no shelter of my own
To stave off chilling winds

All the fire I have known
I have known, I have known
All the fire I have known
Was cynical rebute

All the shelter I have known
I have known, I have known
All the shelter I have known
Was ignorant unknowing

In the wretched wilderness
Of cruelty and despite
I make my own defences
That shall aid me in my fight
