I am a lot more self-conscious about my writing than I am about my visual art work. I think that is simply because drawing and painting always came naturally to me, but writing is more a labor of love. I think that the sound, rhythm, and sheer versatility of the writen or spoken word can be every bit as important as literal meaning. My writing is very simplistic and certainly needs polishing (please forgive the gramatical errors!). I try to write as I draw, paying attention for form and feel as much as meaning, sometimes to a fault. I hope to offer selections from some of my incredibly talented friends some time soon, as I am always enraptured by people with a natural gift of language. |
