| The Water and the Wind I stand on the beach, staring at my feet, Wondering where to step... I see the water coming to lap at me, Surrounding me in a cool comfort. Happily, I lift my bare foot, Ready to follow the safety Offered by smooth predictabilty. Before I catch up, I stop in my tracks, Every second I wait, I second guess myself. Rising around me, a wind blows, The water comes back to tease me, plead with me. Over and around, but not through, I feel the wind. Venturing further toward the water, I feel its pull. Even the wind understands, I'm pushed toward it. Direction changes, I'm being pulled back. More confusion, more decisions-- East, West, North, South, up , down, left, right. Am I to choose? I must. So I close my eyes and feel. I feel the water, I feel the wind. Little by little, both draw away, patient. Offering a smile, I turn away. Vastness greets me with open arms, Embracing my choice, the other slips away. Happily I emmerse myself in my future, Introducing myself to the new sensations of love, My heart fills with joy as I gain new breath. |
