The Marriage Encounter does not end with the weekend. Far from it. By continuing the process learned on the weekend, husbands and wives are enabled to live richer, more purposeful lives. In addition, there are ongoing Marriage Encounter activities for those interested.
What Does the Weekend Cost?
Apart from the registration fee of $45.00, your weekend is offered to you as a gift.
On the weekend, costs are explained and you will be given the opportunity to make an anonymous donation to the future of Marriage Encounter. We believe no couple should ever miss a weekend because they cannot afford it.

Marriage encounter is positive in its direction because it is aimed at building and enhancing a relationship, not in tearing it down and starting over. This refreshing approach to communication in marriage offers an opportunity for growth in your relationship. Give this time to each other!

The Marriage Encounter Journey
Marriage encounter invites you on a journey -- a deepening of couple love. The weekend format is especially designed for married couples to pause awhile and focus on each other. Every now and then we all need to examine our lives and directions to determine if we are going where we want to go. A Marriage Encounter Weekend offers couples just such an opportunity.
What Happens During a Marriage Encounter Weekend?
A couple spends the weekend together, away from the children, distractions and tensions of everyday life, communicating deeply with each other. In a series of sessions, a lead couple and a clergy couple or Priest present informal sharings centred around their own experiences. These sharings are designed to inspire couples to look at themselves as persons, their marriage relationship, their relationship with God, and the world around them.
Sound Like a Crash Counselling Session?
No, counselling is not part of the program. Is it a Sensitivity or Group Dynamic Session? No. Is it a weekend of religious instruction and retreat? No. Then what is it? The Marriage Encounter Weekend is a unique opportunity for a couple to discover together their own specialness.
Does the Weekend Retreat Respect the Couple's Privacy?
Yes. The weekend is oriented strictly to each individual couple. You concentrate on your spouse to such an extent that you are hardly aware of the other couples present. The presentations are given to the group as a whole. After each presentation, the husband and wife have time in the privacy of their room for their own personal discussion.
So What is the Purpose of All This?
The purpose is for a couple to develop a better knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of each other. This can deepen and strengthen their love, thus leading to a richer, fuller life together.
Who is Marriage Encounter for?
It is for couples of any age, those who have been married only a few months to couples married over 50 years. All they need is a commitment to each other and a willingness to work towards a stronger more meaningful future together.
Is the Weekend Open to Couples of Any Faith?
Yes. Although the Weekend is presented through an Anglican perspective, each couple is invited to apply the experience through their own perspective whether or not they have their own religious belief.
