Name: Keith Polasky
Age: 21
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Hair: blonde with brown underneath. Short cropped in back, long bangs on one side.
Eyes: Blue/ wears glasses with thick frames and amber lenses
Skin: White with some freckling.
Distinguishing marks: Tattoo of Japanese symbol for "the sky" on his left shoulderblade. His tongue is pierced with a bar stud that clatters a bit when he talks fast.
Nationality: Polish American, born in New York.
Build/appearance: Tall and slender, with some muscle. Wears trendy bowling shirts, baggy jeans. Also partial to capris and hiking clothes. Never without his Doc Martin boots or trademark glasses.
Known relatives: Father Bob Polasky, software engineer for Cyberbiotics, and Mother Buffy Polasky, lawyer for the same law firm that Margot Yale works for. Has one sister and one brother with whom he does not get along.
Occupation: College Student at NYU, majoring in Geology and Computer Science. Works part time writing software for Xanatos Enterprises.
Marital Status: Currently Single, but has trysts with Rayna Vitreum, and some past liaisons with Sharon.
Personality: The tech head who wishes for high adventure in real life. He was drawn into outdoor sports such as rock climbing when the computer world failed to deliver true pulse pounding excitement. Filled with "piss and vinegar" as Macbeth puts it, Keith always seeks thrills over all else. Yet when it comes to his friends he will not hesitate to rush to the rescue. His foul mouth and brash attitude are a front for his own insecurities about the crazy high tech world. He strives for some sort of balance between technology and nature, but is still in his awkward experimental stage. His loyalty to his friends is unquestionable.
Abilities: Keith is an accomplished computer hacker, a fact of which he is ashamed and proud. He could literally knock on the back door of the Pentagon without leaving a shred of his presence. Computer programming to him is as easy as breathing air, yet he would be at a loss to explain it in class just how he throws his tapeworms and email bombs together! All this is savant and self taught with little help from formal computer training.
Also, he is quite good at rock climbing, Karate, and rollerblading. He has some skill with firearms, having learned from Macbeth the rudamentries of handguns. Keith continues to train in kickboxing with Macbeth.
Hobbies: Keith enjoys online gaming/fantasy rps. Extreme sports, as mentioned above. He is an SF buff that enjoys most modern SF shows on television. Also he is an avid fan of KISS and Rush, and other hard rock/heavy metal groups from the 80’s. He is an active member of the SCA and the KISS army fanclub.
Weaknesses: His foul mouth and brash anti authority attitude get him into frequent fights and verbal confrontations that could have been avoided if he had kept his temper. Casual attitudes and defiance of authority make him a target for other on campus groups to blame their problems on. His history of hacking works against his credibility, as well as some who might question his taste in music. Like Sharon and Lucia, Keith is prone to rush into situations that are more then she can handle physically if his friends are in danger.
History: Born the son of two Yuppie parents with privilege was the last thing Keith Polasky could have wanted. Constantly bored with their expectations, he did everything to rebel against his upper middle class roots. Including sneaking off with his high school friends to jump off train trestles and smoke pot in Upstate New York.
He found his father's software manuals, and quickly taught himself programming in C, Fortran, and Unix. Since his parents both worked full time, he was left with his brother and sister to entertain him in a mound of Sega Genesis games, pocket pagers, and cell phones. All of which he learned to take apart and put back together much to his parent's consternation!
When 14 he hacked into his high school system to fix his and his friend's grades. This earned him a suspension and a reputation that would take him years to break. When 15, he and some friends attempted to hack into the FBI database to retrieve records from Area51, which caught the notice of Matt Bluestone and Martin Duval. Intrigued, they investigated and caught Keith red handed. Instead of prosecuting him, Matt took it upon himself to try and straighten the boy out. It worked with some gradual success. He freelanced as a cyber patroller learning to hunt down other hackers.
In college he explored his desire for extreme sports, trying bungi jumping and cloud surfing. Fortunately he survived these attempts to meet Sharon Lewis. In her he found a kindred spirit. She was also the daughter of middle class white suburbia. Both became fast friends and confidants. He could relate to her far better then his own sister and brother. Also, he met planetary geologist and Professor Rayna Vitreum, with whom he shared a passion for rock climbing. Secretly he developed a crush on the geologist! She was far from the idea model type woman he drooled over on the cyber sex sites. Far better and far more real.
Sophomore year, he and Sharon took her upper level classes, and joined Rayna on a camping trip. What he did not realize was that Sharon had been sharing a rather deep friendship with Rayna for a semester. Both had known each other since Sharon's childhood. Jealous, Keith followed them on a hike to discover Rayna bathing in the creek! He had not seen the object of his crush in such settings, and retreated post haste!
Finally he admitted his feelings of confusion regarding where he stood with Sharon to Rayna. Rayna told him Sharon had the same confusion. "All my life I've gaped at cyber chicks online, and read those hot mags. But none of the women are real! You are!"
Flattered, Rayna realized his schoolboy crush was sheer devotion. She helped Sharon and Keith to discover their true feelings for each other. That they would be close friends and nothing more and nothing less.
Back at college, Keith's reputation as a hacker/cyberangel reached legendary proportions. He was often suspected of the latest email viruses, but Rayna constantly defended his innocence. In Keith's junior year he met and befriended drama student Carlos Garcia, and history major Lucia Dominguez. The four became an inseparable group who did many things together. Keith had a temporary thing for Molly O'Keefe, Lucia's roommate, which only ended in a few short but sweet dates. Still Keith's true passion burned for Rayna Vitreum, his professor.
The following semester, all four tried to sign up for at least one class together. They decided to take Rayna's Planetary Geology survey course for elective requirements. Carlos and Lucia ended up in Shakespearean English with Molly. Intrigued by his course with Lennox MacDuff, Keith began to research this professor with an elusive past. What he found astonished and flummoxed him.
Keith and his friends were inextricably drawn into strange events concerning the Quarrymen and the Gargoyles when a recruitment group showed up on campus. Keith and Sharon vocally opposed the group, while Lucia and Carlos tried to take a more middle of the road approach, simply avoiding their friends who had signed up. When Rayna Vitreum was dismissed in mid semester after taking a part time job with Xanatos Enterprises, Keith and Sharon organized a protest rally. MacDuff attempted to quiet an explosive scene between Sharon, Keith, and Jon Castaway. Unfortunately Keith along with Sharon was abducted by an enraged Castaway to be made examples of. Fortunately, Rayna Vitreum used the Phoenix Gate to rescue him. Touched, he stayed behind while Sharon went for help to defend his professor. When both were inextricably saved by Demona, Keith took the Phoenix Gate with him as he went to the hospital to search for help. What he got was a meeting with Macbeth. By then Keith had determined that this professor's official records were forged! In the nineteen fifties a Lennox MacLaren had purchased the land where Lennox MacDuff had his current home. Researching bio data Keith realized they were one and the same, and one was legally married to Rayna Vitreum, then Rayna MacLaren.
Keith demanded that MacDuff take him to find Rayna. Upon hearing Keith's story, Macbeth readied himself to leave in vengeance if she could not be found. When Macbeth refused to involve him in the search, Keith insisted he knew Macbeth had been someone else before. Chagrined, Macbeth realized this young man was a formidable if untapped resource. Over the next week or so the two worked together to track Rayna down, and ultimately trace her to Demona's mansion. Keith's hacking skills enabled them to home in on the police files of Jon Castaway and the Quarrymen. With the help of two boys who blundered out of Titantia's mirror, they managed to find Castaway and draw him out. While the boys went after Demona, Macbeth and Keith single-handedly decimated the Quarryman assault force. This left Keith's life forever changed, as he tasted the heat of true action. Macbeth knew Keith would not be believed when he told his story, and left the option open for future collaborations.
Once Keith finds out Rayna is a gargoyle, this will test their relationship. Keith currently knows she is, but her lack of attempts to contact him face to face have caused emotional trauma. Nevertheless when he does meet her face to face, it is doubtful her transformation will stop his true feelings for her.
Relationships with Gargoyles chars (more to be added as stories are written)
Maria Chavez: Frustrated and admiring of this boy, Chavez does not know whether to hire him on the force or send him to jail for his curiosity. She knows he is close friends with Lucia, her niece, and thus tends to turn a blind eye to him when his hacking is beneficial.
Matt Bluestone: Keeps an eye on the young cyberangel, encouraging him to use his talents for benefit rather then mischievous pranks. In many ways the two men are kindred spirits, and Keith is quite possibly a future candidate for the Illuminati. Matt is reluctant to let them get their hands on him, and tries to dissuade him from discovering their existence, much in the way Duval led him off the trail for so many years.
Macbeth (Lennox MacDuff): As Keith puts it, "I'm his padawan." Macbeth was initially disgusted with Keith's brash attitude and foul mouth, yet saw his innate value as an assistant. Keith had many hidden qualities that would prove very useful in keeping the Quarrymen at bay. Also, Macbeth resents Keith's emotional attachment to Rayna, an old flame. Nevertheless he will do his utmost to train Keith in his new abilities as a possible ally to the Gargoyles.
Demona: Since she saved his and Rayna's life, Keith cannot bring himself to hate the gargress. Despite Macbeth's tales of her villainy, he can't help but wonder if Demona has been misunderstood all these centuries. Demona did notice Keith's unflappable devotion to Rayna, and his risking his life to save his professor. She could not help but admire his gumption, and shares a special grudging respect for him and his skills.
Xanatos: Eventually he has hired Keith for part time work at his robotics division. However Keith will soon come to resent Xanatos' double-dealings and history of deception. AS long as Rayna lives under Xanatos' castle, Keith will be a bit protective of Rayna, fearing that Xanatos has some ulterior purpose for letting the gargoyles remain there.
I will add other relationships as the stories are written!
Relationships with other fanchars:
Sharon: Keith has been very tight with her since their freshman year of college. Both of them have the same anti-authority attitude, and share the myth that they are indestructible. Yet they are so much alike that the possibility of a romantic relationships is not likely. They have had sexual encounters with each other, which have only resulted to strengthen a deep friendship and respect. Sharon knows Keith's current crush is Rayna, even if the geologist is currently a gargoyle in a relationship with Hudson.
Molly: Thinks Keith is cute, and brash, but too much like her ex boyfriend Rory to entertain any serious relationship beyond casual dating with him. Yet she hopes he finds the right woman someday.
Carlos: Both are like brothers, sharing some of the same loves of computer games. It does not matter that one is Cuban and the other is polish, their guyness transcends ethnicity. They get along very well for the most part. Keith acts as a lighting tech for many of the Drama society's productions that Carlos is involved in. If Carlos has a computer concern, he knows he can always count on Keith to bail him out. This also works if Carlos is being heckled for his Cuban heritage, for Keith will stop at nothing to join in the fight.
Lucia: He wishes she would lighten up, even though she is the cool head of the group and its voice of reason. Sometimes he sets her up on blind dates with friends to see if she will turn into the party animal Molly insist exists beneath the Catholic girl school properness. Now that he knows that she and Mac are in a relationship, he finds this to be a point of teasing and amusement, now that Cinderella has found her Prince Charming. Keith is one of the few people who knows of their secret, and will stop at nothing to keep it that way.
Rayna: In love with the geologist, for she is one of the genuine women who relates to him as a person, not as a tech whiz or "guy." They can talk about anything and everything, and Keith would defend her with his last dying breath. She alone sees the diamond in the rough, and encourages him to quit the tough act and be real. Both shared a number of encounters together, which helped build his self-confidence about himself as a man. However, Keith knows that they cannot ever truly be a couple, for the differences are just too great. Still he can't help but hope otherwise.
Keith Polasky is my own creation, of me Trynia Merin, and is a fancharacter that means no harm to the show. If you want to use him, please email me with any plot ideas, and we will talk! Don't use her without permission first okay? Gargoyles and associated characters don't belong to me, and are being used without Disney's knowledge or permission.
