Menlough 0-11 Caherlistrane 1-7

Our Intermediates collected their first points of the league last Saturday when they defeated Caherlistrane in a hard fought encounter. We started slowly but soon settled and raced into a 0-7 to 0-2 lead. The scores coming from Damien Costello, Brendan Costello, Fintan Finnerty and Fergal Costello. In the second half Caherlistrane scored a goal and a point, Menlough replied with points from Derwin Costello, Fintan Finnerty and Damien Costello. Brendan Costello finished the scoring for Menlough with a point, which turned out to be the winning score. The final score was Menlough 0-11 Caherlistrane 1-7. The Menlough team was T. Hansberry, L. Menlough 1-9 Dunmore 0-13

The Intermediate team started their league campaign last Sunday (27/03/04) away to Dunmore McHales. In what was a very competitive game we were narrowly defeated by one point. At half time the score was Menlough 1-3 Dunmore 0-6, our scores coming from Fergal Costello, Derwin Costello and Damien Costello. In the second half  wewere level in normal time however Dunmore edged ahead in injury time to win by the narrowest of margins. Intermediate Shield

Menlough 1-8 St Grellans 2-12

Our Intermediate team were defeated by Monivea/Abbey in round two of the shield. At half time we trailed by 0-10 to 1-1after playing into a strong breeze. First half scores coming from Derwin Costello who converted the goal and Jarlath Fahy scoring the point. In the second half we bought the game back to one point with scores from Derwin Costello, David Laheen, Tomas Mannion, Damien Costello and Brendan Costello. However Monivea/Abbey hit back with two late goals with Sean Mannion scoring a final consolation point for Menlough in injury time. The final score was Monivea/Abbey 2-12 Menlough1-8. Our Intermediate team had their first competitive game of the season when they played St. Grellans in the Shield last Saturday. Overall it was a good team performance by the players.
