To my stepfather, Jim
this poem is for you.
I just wanted to say
how much I thank you.

We've never really been close
other than a hey, how are you.
But I really have noticed
all the loving things that you do.

As I watched you each day
doing your best.
Preparing your dinner
and cleaning up your mess.

Doing the grocery shopping
and the laundry too.
Without hearing any complaints
ever coming from you.

Taking mom to the doctor
almost every day you had off.
Getting her medicine
even if you heard the slightest cough.

Coming home from work
very late in the night.
Doing whatever was needed
so mom would rest allright.

Loving my mother
right from the start.
Loving your precious wife
with all of your heart.

Mamma told me what a good
husband you are.
She said most men would have left,
just drove off in their car.

But you Jim, you were there
through the happy and sad.
When life was so cruel
and things really got bad.

I will never forget Jim,
all of the things that you did.
Being a loving husband, stepfather
and a grandpa to my kids.

You are a very wonderful person
to whom I have grown closer to.
And I just wanted to let you know
how much I thank you.
