CHALLENGE CUP WINNERS - AGAIN!!!
12/11/05
Back to home
Memphis United repeated as GMSA Challenge Champions after a 3-0 victory over Strangers FC.   This was the third cup title in a row for United - including the 2004 Challenge Cup and 2005 Division 1 Maybry Cup.  United has played Strangers FC in all three cup finals.  Gabe Beyl scored the first goal midway through the first half.  The second goal was scored about 10 minutes before the break.  Andres Biguria headed in a Shawn Brereton free kick at the back post.  The third and final goal came about 10 minutes into the second half.  Neil Armstrong took a shot that the Strangers keeper could only knock down.  Patrick McAdams got to the deflected shot and poked it into the net for the final score.  The Strangers had a few good opportunities to score, but Curt Rogers made several great saves to preserve the clean sheet.  This was the last game in charge for Scott Melton.  Patrick McAdams and Kris MacDonald will take over management duties beginning in the spring as Scott moves upstairs to become BS Director of Football.  Melton stated, "Stepping down as manager is a dream come true, but going out with a championship is brilliant."
UNITED CHALLENGE KEG WINNERS!!!
7/9/05
Memphis United traveled to Murfreesboro to face Middle Tennessee United in the first annual United Challenge Keg Match.  Middle Tennessee United is led by former Memphis United players Tim Pogue, Thomas Parkerson and Adam MacDonald.  Memphis United came away with the Keg by a score of 2-1.  Andres Biguria put Memphis United ahead, but Middle Tennessee United evened the score in the second half.  Shawn Brereton then scored off a deflection late in the game to give Memphis United the win.  We look forward to having Middle Tennessee United down in Memphis for the next game.
