Melton was manager of Memphis United from it's creation in 1990 through the fall 2005 season. During that time, United won the Division 1 league championship in 2004 and 2005, the GMSA Challenge Cup in 2004 and 2005, the D1 Maybry Cup in 2002 and 2005, as well as the Division 2 league and Cup double in 1998. In addition, United also won the Tennessee Regional Sportsfest in 1994, the Elvis Labor Day Tournament in 1999, and were United Challenge Keg Winners in the inaugural match in 2005.
