Memphis Evans: In Order To Change The World Memphis Evans: In Order To Change The World

ALL profits from the musical career of Memphis Evans are donated to one or more of the following charities. Memphis respectfully suggests they might be a good place to put your own charitable contributions.

Local (Twin Cities)

Feline Rescue, Inc.
Based in St. Paul, this no-kill shelter works very hard to find the best possible homes for feral and abandoned cats and kittens.

KBEM 88.5 FM
My favorite Twin Cities radio station. Great Jazz, traffic information, and Bluegrass Saturday Morning.

The Jeremiah Program
Helps mothers who want a better life for their children and are ready to make the changes necessary to give it to them.

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery
Provides a place where stressed out parents can go and get a moment's peace. For those parents who don't have my parents as grandparents for their children.

National

Share - Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, Inc.
This group supports families who have suffered.

International

Smile Train
I am now looking for ways to help kids with charitable giving. This was in USA Weekend of all things, and it makes a lot of sense to me and helps in a very concrete, definitive way, which is what I was looking for. Plus, you can reload the website often and see which celebrity pops up in the corner. Alex Trebek? Colin Powell? You just never know with the Smile Train.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
The Humane Society of the United States
I give to these two because I like most animals better than I like most people. I want animals to be treated better than they currently are.

Natural Resources Defense Council
What put me over the edge and made me start giving to this group was the moron in the white house. It's like voting against Bush every month. Only when you vote with your money, Diebold can't make it not count.

Church World Service
Bride happened to see a story about West Timor on CNN.com and we wanted to help. (Scroll down to find West Timor or choose your own region of the world.)

At this point, you might be thinking, "Are all profits from Memphis' music career really given to charities?" Well, yes. It is true, but mainly because the amount of money I get from doing music is all too easily dwarfed by the amount my wife and I give to charity. In fact if I were to use certain creative accounting practices, you could easily explain my musical career as a lifetime in the red. Or the black. You know, whichever is the bad one.

Do something good. Feel something real. I heard that somewhere once.
