We have a lot of hobbies at 518....but usually when we get together we have to do something constructive besides talking about 518 and wishing that we could live in that dump again.  Since 2004 we have taken on the joy of playing bean bag toss and we have created the 518 World Title for our backyard competitions.  During the summer of 2005 this page will see numerous updates as the 518 World Title and the winning percentage of each team changes.  Here is a listing of the teams, the records and recounts of the action.

And in the words of Mr. Schrembeck:

"Lets go....Lets Toss Jimmy!!!!"

RULES

1. The game is played by two teams, each team consisting of two players.

2. Materials needed are one set of bags ( 8 total, 4 of one color, 4 of another ) and a set of boxes.

3. Boxes are to be placed several feet apart from each other (hole to hole) with the pitch of the boxes running down at each other.

4. Each team shall have one member at each end of the playing field. ( One man alongside each box )

5. Teams flip to see who throws first.

6. Teams can either alternate throws or throw four at a time.
- the front of the box is the foul line.

7. Once all of the bags are thrown, all of the points are counted. One point is awarded for a bag that is on the box at the end of the throwing, and three points are awarded to any bag that is thrown in or knocked in to the hole at the end of the throwing. Points cancel. The team with the lower number of points has their points subtracted from the other teams points, leaving the other team with their score for that volley.

8. The team that won the last volley will throw first on the next volley.

9. The game is played until one team reaches 21 and the winning team must win by two points.

10.  The Champs after defending their title must sit and wait while the other top two teams battle it out for the right to play for the title.  The Champs then have to defend their title as long as both teams agree to do so.
