The Covenant of Circumcision
Brit Milah
"This is My covenant which you shall keep
between Me and You and your offspring after you.
Circumcise every male."
In the Book of Genesis (Bereshit) G-D speaks to Abraham and
tells him to circumcise himself, his sons, and all the men who live with him.
Brit: Hebrew word for "covenant," or agreement

Circumcision:
Symbol of a young baby's joining the Jewish people

Mohel: Specialist who performs circumcisions

Sandek:  One who holds the baby at circumcision ceremony, the Highest honor

Kvatterin: German for Grandmother.  Honored with bringing  baby to ceremony

Kvatter: German for Godfather.  Honored with placing  child on Elijah's chair

Brit Bat: New ceremony to celebrate a daughter becoming one of the Jewish people

Simchat Bat:
New ceremony, celebrating the  birth of a daughter.

Elijah the Prophet: Guest of Honor at Brit Milah "Guardian angel" of  Jewish Children.

Pidyon Ha-Ben: Ceremony redeeming  the first born son

Kohen: Ancestor of the Temple Priests

Seudat Mitzvah: Festive meal served in honor of observing a life  cycle mitzvah
