Literally, Son of the Commandments. Commandment that a 13 year old boy becomes responsible for following the Mitzvot  on his own. 

Bat Mitzvah:  
Literally, Daughter of the Commandments.  Ceremony started in 1922
making a 12 year old girl responsible for following the commandments.  

Bimah: 
Platform in the sanctuary where Torah is read.

D'var Torah:
Short speech about the Torah portion or Haftorah

Haftarah: 
A reading from the prophets or writings, that concludes the Torah serivice

Ketuvim: 
The Book of Prophets

Maftir: 
Last Aliyah usually reserved for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah
